I was sketched by the exterior, and the interior--but that usually means you're in for an authentic experience. And my party of 5 was. The food was awesome--burritos as long as your forearm, stuffed with delicious grilled meats, and sauce so hot that I needed a 2nd freshly squeezed lemonade to cool down. Toss in the great service, and low prices and you've got a winner! There aren't a lot of options in Los Fresnos, but I would take this over most of the places I ate in Brownsville--and given it's proximity to Laguna Atascosa it's worth checking out on your way into or out of the refuge!
This was our first and probably last visit to this Dairy Queen. It is a small town establishment, so maybe my expectations were too high. There were three employees when we arrived - one in the kitchen preparing the orders, the second cleaning the floor behind the counter and the third taking an order when we arrived about 1:00pm on a weekday. The young man taking the order took a very long time to complete it. At one point, he went back to the kitchen. The woman cleaning the floor realized that there were about 6 people now waiting in line to place their orders. She took our order and handed it off to the young man who came back to the front counter from the kitchen. He was still working on that previous order. The woman then took the orders for the rest of the people in line, and then proceeded to fell their orders. We waited for our 2 very simple Blizzards even after 3 people who were behind us had received their orders. While waiting, I visited the women's restroom which was in need of a thorough cleaning - sticky floor, poor water pressure, dirty sink. My husband reported a dirty men's restroom as well. The Blizzards were good, but we will probably skip this DQ when next time we pass through Los Fresnos.
Lots of options around for wings but this place continues to be a favorite. Wings and fries with variety of flavor options. Ask for your wings and fries to be crispy, take a little longer but it will be well worth it.
Delicious burgers and other offerings with a slightly upscale vibe. The dining room is simply appointed, including picnic style tables, booths, and high top tables with tall stools. A wrap-around bar hints that BurgerIM is planning to add beer and wine as soon as they can. The burgers are wonderful. The fries are disks instead of the typical sticks. And the onion rings are amazing. The prices are just a little bit higher than similar fare in the area, but the portions are large.
