This is an old school restaurant that still offers curbhop service or inside dinning. They offer bbq, cheeseburgers, hotdogs and other sandwiches. They also have a unique sauce, slaw, and dip that makes their sandwiches delicious and different. Recently we stopped in for dinner. I opted to go inside and order instead of using the curb service. Once inside I was greeted and my order was promptly taken. I like their bbq but today was a different choice. A roast pork on toast with lettuce, tomato, and mayo an order of onion rings and an extra large tea with crushed ice. I returned to our vehicle to eat after my order was completed and bagged. The onion rings hot and crispy, the roast pork sandwich thick and filling, and a very sweet tea. An enjoyable classic retro style drive in meal.

Very good, and very fresh, but I keep forgetting about it given its location on Franklin Ave. I would suggest anyone who likes subs give it a try. It is far, far better than any Subway I have visited. Ladies were quick and effective. Very friendly and helpful as well. Food was tasty . They offered many options, and the one I had was very good, indeed.

This location must be the one where Bojangles sends their worst managers. I am a HUGE Bojangle's fan and this location is very close to where I live. I have given up on this place. They are either completely out of an item or you have to wait 10 minutes, and they are almost guaranteed to get the order wrong. Or, all of the above. Quite often the food is either over cooked or has been sitting for a while. As in hard biscuits and tough chicken. Occasionally I will stop in at this location hoping for change but always get the same results. I now drive to the Dallas location which is out of the way. The difference in these locations are like nigh and day.

We entered the cafe hoping to have some coffee and at least a bagel. We were pleasantly surprised to find a menu that included sandwiches and salads. I ordered a crispy chicken sandwich with tater tots and my teenage son ordered a cheeseburger with fries. The staff was very professional and friendly. The employee taking our orders told us what came on each sandwich providing us with an opportunity to change anything before sending in the order. I was very grateful because I do not like honey mustard, which comes on the sandwich, so I requested mayonnaise. My son got an iced coffee that came with whip cream and chocolate sauce. He was very impressed with the quality of the drink. He enjoyed it immensely. I was disappointed to learn that the cafe did not have any iced tea - sweet or unsweetened. I don't drink sodas so I had to settle for a bottle of water. I think this is an area where the owners can expand their product line.We settled into comfortable chairs to read and wait for our food. The decor is very comfortable with lots of deep leather chairs and sofas. There's seating along the window and several tables too. The art appeared to be from local artisans and added an element of interest to the original brick wall facade. We have plans to frequent this cafe because of the simple, but delicious food, excellent customer service, and comfortable seating.

Firehouse Subs

Reviewed By mfweave

On our way to visit our granddaughter at college (and attend the Wooly Worm festival at Banner Elk), we stopped at Firehouse Subs for a late lunch. The weather was nice so we sat outside with our large dog to give him a break from the car. As always, our sandwiches were perfect. The staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean. As we were eating, I thought of Jack (our dog) and went inside to see if they had anything I could put some water in (we have a large travel bowl in the car). They not only had something, but they put water in it and brought it out to our table. Jack enjoyed a taste of our sandwiches and also wanted me to thank Firehouse for the water.
