We hopped off the m1 for a bite to eat today and glad we found thos gem of a place. A lovely setting with a varied menu, perfect when eating as a family. The burrito was the best ive had. The kids meals were fresh and obviously home cooked with care. My daughter ate every bite of her spaghetti. The service was super friendly and we even got a free ice pop, an absolute blessing in 30 degree heat! Boroughbridge is beautiful i recommend here for a pitt stop!Thank you so much. Hope you can visit us again sometime. All at Bozza Fodder and The Anchor Inn.

Called in here on Saturday evening and initially we nearly walked back out as there was loads of dirty tables. We decided to stay as the food looked nice. The fish and chips were excellent and the staff were lovely , toilets spotless so we left a tip and will return. Just need a bit more attention to detail and clear some tables as when we visited it was quiet so no excuse.

Takeaway
I visit Ripon usually once a year for a few days and always arrange my schedule to see Mark and Helen for proper fish & chips at least twice. These days I ask for a half-portion of chips - the servings are most generous. Old-fashioned, cook-to-order using the best ingredients. Quality is excellent as it has been for many years. Not at all fancy; mostly takwaway but one small table, nice if you're staying in a B&B close by. You can get almost-as-good at some local pubs but after this place "almost" doesn't seem quite so close.

Family run 60 seat restaurant and take away.
An obviously well established city fish & chips takeaway and restaurant offering a varied menu. After a long day of watching the Tour of Yorkshire, which was very well hosted in Ripon, we chose to eat here at the Jolly Fryer. We were not disappointed. The cod and chips were excellent. The fish was beautifully white, moist and cooked to perfection n the most delicate of batters, served with an ample portion of chips. This is served together with bread and butter (a choice of brown, white or a mixture of both), tea and or coffee. A great bargain. Prompt and friendly service in a quaint, old building, just off the market square. Very well worth a visit. Thank you all for a lovely meal.

We visited Drakes whilst in Ripon buying a house. Can't say I was impressed to be honest. The staff weren't exactly friendly. The chips looked like they'd been sat for a long while. It was pretty rubbish. Very disappointed. Very much doubt we'll go back.
