Yorkshire (/ˈjɔːrkʃər, -ʃɪər/; abbreviated Yorks), formally known as the County of York, is a historic county of Northern England and the largest in the United Kingdom. Due to its great size in comparison to other English counties, functions have been undertaken over time by its subdivisions, which have also been subject to periodic reform. Throughout these changes, Yorkshire has continued to be recognised as a geographical territory and cultural region. The name is familiar and well understood across the United Kingdom and is in common use in the media and the military, and also features in the titles of current areas of civil administration such as North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and East Riding of Yorkshire.

I have a meeting in Doncaster every 10 weeks or so so we drive up from Newark and I drop She Who Must Be Obeyed off here while I go on into town. After the meeting I call back in and try to prise her out of the shops, so we can go for a coffee or something to eat. It's an easy place to get to - 3 minutes from the M180 and 6 from the A1. Plenty of car parking and plenty of space for wandering. Some noteworthy shops - M&S Outlet Shop which has a few bargains now and again, the Antler luggage shop is fatal if you can never quite find the perfect suitcase but insist on carrying on trying, Dickies has some great workwear - the list goes on. You can get a list of all the outlet shops on the Lakeside Village website. Well worth a visit if you're nearby; just don't expect to be able to do your grocery shop while you're there!
