It is a very elegant restaurant, cute outside and very cosy inside, tables are very posh and accurately dressed with silver cutlery, the atmosphere is enchanting, music volume is soft and tracks are perfect. Food is delicious. Fish was fresh and tasty. Staff is polite and welcoming. Inside the toilet there are proper cloth hand towels, to dispose inside a basket and there is a perfume too! The best restaurant on the Isle of Wight!Wow! That's a fantastic review! Thank you very much!

Mediterranean inspired homemade food and local produce , cooked to the highest level in a stunning little Mediterranean bistro . Breakfast , lunch and dinner all cooked with a twist and the best the island has to offer
Slightly bleak, distant lady in charge here. But the breakfast was decent. You can compile your own breakfast from the menu. So I had two fried eggs, black pudding, tomatoes, mushrooms, and brown toast. It was beautifully presented, the highlight being the tasty little red and yellow tomatoes, cooked just right. The fried eggs were a bit hard, though, which is often the way. With a cappuccino and a tea, price was £12.00 odd.The ethos of the small unit was Italian, though without Italian friendliness. The look of the place was good, but the floor wasn't that clean and the table felt a bit sticky. In any case, I left happy with the breakfast and fuelled for my hike.

Was recommended to eat here by our B&B owner who also told us to make sure we booked as it is small and usually very busy. Real old fashioned charming village pub with an italian menu comprising pizza and pasta and much more. Went for the "life changing" lasagne which was very nice and the wife had the sea bass which was served on a bed of tagiatelle also very good. Service is good and friendly staff made it a nice atmosphere for a pleasant evening.

Hillside Restaurant offers fine European dining with a Scandinavian twist, made of our own and local produce - freshly prepared and presented in menus which change frequently - giving a choice of 5 starters, 5 mains and 5 desserts. Great vegetarian option
We had a delightful dinner at Hillside last week for the first time in a couple of years. For ambience, personal service, views and cuisine it cannot be beaten on the Island. Why this isn't number 1 in terms of Tripadvisor reviews is beyond me. It's a beautiful location, with superb modern Danish interior design and art that should be featured in Wallpaper Magazine. The gardens are stunning: great views over the Channel, amazing tropical planting with sheep, doves and chickens too. Paul Noakes is now chef and doing great things in the kitchen with fresh herbs, veg and salads from the hotel's kitchen garden and IOW foraged food. His bitter orange creme brulee is to die for! Gert is a charming host and - as well as being responsible for five star service and ambience - he has curated a wonderful (but surprisingly good value) wine list with classy house wines sourced directly. The whole experience is informal yet elegant and perfect for special occasions, but at a fraction of the price of Relais & Chateaux comparables on the mainland. Amazing value. Just go!
