The Fonda Restaurant is placed in the historic centre of Morellaâs village. We offer Morellaâs gastronomy made with local ingredients, raised in the pastures of the village. Our cuisine is not very sophisticated, we prefer highlighting natural flavours an
We came to Morella for the 'Sexenni' celebrations, the 10 days of processions, incredible street decorations and fiestas which happen only once every 6 years and attract thousands of visitors every single day.It was hard to book a restaurant anywhere. Everywhere was packed. In the end we were lucky to get a table for the family for a second sitting at La Fonda at 15.15, fearing the worst from a culinary perspective at a big event like this.We could not have been more mistaken. This 'small' intimate restaurant spread over several floors had planned intelligently. There was only one Sexenni set menu at 30⬠excluding drinks which initially seemed expensive until they started serving the food. The 4 starters were all to share: a cheese and ham platter, salad with pear & gorgonzola, croquetas and mini cold potatoes with a two different fillings. There was a choice of 3 main courses. The lamb was melt-in-mouth and the squid with an accompanying broad bean, black pudding and fennel mix was both original and excellent as was the crisp brownie-based dessert with yogurt ice cream.Afterwards we met two of the chefs relaxing in the street who told us they were only 4 in the kitchen. This was their 7th day non-stop with two sittings for lunch and dinner for at least 65 people for each. A real miracle to achieve this quality of food and service. Sincerest congratulations!

We were going around in Valencia to find place to have dinner, but didn't like the one we saw, then I remember we passed by one earlier. We went back and it turned to be a good choice. We had a quiet romantic dinner - got free vermut to start with, and free arroz de bomba liquer later. The food was plentyful and nice. The service was also great. Especially the local soup was great!

We have the feeling to have had a great lunch in this place. The price is according to the quality and it is not expensive comparing with the other places nearby. The menu is not updated with the prices so we had some misunderstanding that they solved it out in a good manner. I recommend this place, we tried "ternasco" and "hojaldre de rabo de toro" both were great. The waitress is not Spanish and we could have the understanding problem because of the language. But she treated us in a good way and gave a good service.

An evening we will most remember for the extended French family domestic taking place two tables away, also featured good, simple food. Local ham, a soup of game and beans and some grilled lamb. Dessert was an over-solid flan but you can't win them all. Large, fair wine list, good coffee.

We had a selection of small dishes, all of which were good quality, fresh and carefully presented. Portions were generous and service was attentive and prompt. The cheeses were really good, but the biggest treat was the nicely-priced house red wine which was super.
