Had a marvelous dinner on a recent Saturday night amidst the flurry of folks at the Village Center for the PV Art Fest. Despite a busy night and lots of distractions, the meal was delightful and the service was flawless. Service is attentive, not fussy and the server genuinely seemed to be having a good time serving her customers. We had the salmon and sea bass, and the dishes could not have been better. They really know how to prepare sauces that are subtle and flavorful without overwhelming the dish. Our only regret is that we don't dine here more frequently. It is not a cheap date, but delivers a lot of value when you want to have a terrific meal. Dining on the patio is also a treat on a pleasant KC evening.

Located in a nice surrounding, nice little town located on a hill.Entry to the restaurant will be challenging if you do mind steep steps. Nice outdoor setup with few tables, the inside is a rustic old house with basic country type furniture. Service was efficient and friendly, the owner is pleasent and cheerful. Menu is impressive and the wine list is composed of wide variety of good wines at a reasonable price. The wine list was clever, it had Large pictures of each bottle with detailed information on the wine and its origin. The food was good, small negative observations on the service; not attending to our wine or the water needs. We had water and the wine but no one came to check if we need more. That's minor, the one that irked every one was the waiter expected us to use the same utensils though out dinner! Sorry, unacceptable! They did comply and they were pleasent about it. Now for the serious issue that turned off our entire party, the noise level in restaurant was unbearable! We were unsuccessful communicating without shooting, even to the waiter!! I must admit that a group of very loud couples made matters worse. Everyone seated was made uncomfortable, the wait staff did not control the situation. I felt bad a couple that was sitting in a table for two trying to have a special evening. This restaurant is not recommended if you want to have a quiet romantic evening unless the restaurant is empty.Bottom line, the location is nice, food is good, wine list is great and fairly priced, menu is diverse, staff is well growed and pleasant.Recommended with conditions.

What a gem in the Crossroads District of downtown KC....and right on the streetcar line! Nothing real exciting or German from the exterior or interior really either, but the food is excellent. The menu appreciates some of the traditional German fare and explodes with a new and modern vibe yet in the German tradition as well. The charcuterie plate is scrumptous! Home made German meats with some cheeses, pickles, a nice fresh salad and tomatoes on the plate paired with homemade breads, also in the German heavy bread style. Rabbit and pheasant dishes are a wonderful surprise on the menu in addition to the traditional wiener schnitzel and spatzle. They should make a combination plate so one doesn't have to choose. BUT the real star of the menu is their steaks...yes, you read that correct! They have a special supplier of Waygu beef!!! What a thrill, a treat, and oh so delectable! That Waygu sirloin would rival any prime filet mignon in the city! Just amazing. A lovely dessert menu, extensive wine and beer menu as well. Do not miss this little German Gem!Thank you so much for taking the time to post this wonderful review of our restaurant! We very much appreciate this and look forward to seeing you again!
