Taken there by locals, we had very decent meals at value for money prices. I am gluten intolerant and they are well up with the game (a lot of places are still in the stone age for this) but our waiter who had long service there had to depart to question the chef about whether some things were safe for me. I would rather this than he made a mistake so, although it gives a poor impression of not being au fait with the menu, it can be overlooked. The ambience of the place is not that good. The décor in modern but it just feels so cold and sterile - not at all a comfortable surround; a great shame because the food was quite OK. Lots of parking space.Many thanks for the review of your visit to the Ashbourne Hotel, all the waiting staff are briefed on allergens and we hold a list with the menus detailing all the relevant allergen information about our menus, however we do instruct staff where they are unsure on a particular item to check before giving the wrong information, as is what seems to have happened on this occasion, As you say we would all rather that, than have the wrong information be passed.It is great to know that you enjoyed your meals and found it value for money.very many thanksAndrew

Visited back in June for our anniversary after several glowing recommendations from friends. Unfortunately we weren't so impressed, the food was average and there wasn't a wide range of drinks to choose from. It's such a small place, which can't be helped but I could hear everybody else's conversations and really disliked the fact that there were no menus on tables - they were all on large blackboards on the walls so people would come and stand right by your table to see them and we had to do the same!

OK - it was a company do, and i was not paying but non the less I thoroughly enjoyed the Fork and Spoon experience.Scallops, followed by Porterhouse Steak, and Vanilla Panacotta to finish. All well prepared and cooked. And judging by the other empty plates in the party I dare say everyone else enjoyed their meals. Although more pricey than most local restaurants it was worth the additional cost. We had the themed afternoon tea. It included two drinks -prosecco/small beer/juice on arrival and tea/coffee later. The menu was available online and whilst the food was explained as it was delivered, a menu was not given to us at the table. Fortunately, I was already aware it was £22.95 per head.A cake stand of interesting, hot savoury items arrived first -asian noodles in NY style card boxes, watermelon and feta salad and chicken tikka. It was all well presented, good quality and very tasty. Portions were on the small side. The cheesy chips and fish sandwich were brought later. The fish sandwich was a properly cooked battered fillet which was hot and tasty. The cheesy chips were average. It was good to have a varied savoury selection which were served hot, rather than the usual finger sandwiches.Tea/coffee were offered later.The 3 sweets included a scone with jam and cream, a chocolatey dessert in a shot glass and an ice-cream in small cone with strawberry sauce. The ice cream was welcome on a hot day but appeared to be standard vanilla with squirty sauce.The staff were helpful and friendly. The decor is classic and they have kept the bowed windows at the front. Note -there is no aircon.I felt the price was a little on the high side so would not consider it excellent value for money. However, I did appreciate the 'different' theme and the savoury food being hot and felt other aspects -menu, service, etc to be 'excellent'. Overall, I would recommend the 'tea' for a special occasion.

Here at the Pelham Suite we boast our very "Unique" venue which is beautiful and dramatic. We have held many civil ceremonies, weddings, live music events and large banqueting events over the years and is now an established fully equipped conference venue

We held a family birthday party here with approx 100 guests. The staff could not be more helpful in the planning and organisation. Thank you Alison and team. With the staff help we organised colour theme, table and chair decorations, disco (v reasonable), a photo booth (big hit) and three hot dishes for supper. The hall has a great big car park for those driving. The wi fi was excellent and kept the younger ones happy. Everyone was impressed with the look of the venue. Inside the drapes and twinkly lights across the ceiling were a hit. No wonder people hold weddings here. For food we had a curry, chilli and chicken supreme with chips and rice. Without exception everyone had plenty and enjoyed what they had. (Thanks Rachel)Our party was from 7:30 to midnight. We all had a dance and of course a few sensibly priced drinks. We had a great experience for our event I recommend the Pelham Suite for your next party/event. You will not be disappointed. Enjoy! Thank you for your overwhelmingly positive review.
