The Sundial is a privately owned, relaxed and chic French restaurant with spectacular views of the South Downs in East Sussex. The Sundialâs à -la-carte and seasonal menus as well as its cuisine and ambience are typically French. Our restaurant in East Sus
We had an excellent meal here, pleasantly served and well presented. I don't know that it was especially "French" or that the ambience was French as the advertising claims. Sensible menu with sensible range of choices. Wine list a little heavy and limited wines-by-the-glass; if a couple is having differing main courses this makes it difficult. There were amuse-bouches as well. Easy parking. Not sure we could see the view over the South Downs, but hey, we didn't go there for the view.At the end of the day it was £172 for two, with a moderately priced bottle of wine. We didn't think that was value for money.

Authentic Hungarian street food, a fluffy and crispy bread speciality topped or filled to your liking World famous Goulash soup and weekly specialities from Hungarian and international cousin Home made puddings Quality wines from native grape varieties
Passing through Hailsham at lunchtime on this sunny Autumn afternoon, and TA suggested Bebble's to us. What a lovely and different alternative to the usual cafes! At the heart of its fare is Hungarian langos, and these fried bread rolls - with endless filling choices - were done extremely well. Also with many different side orders available, including goulash. We sat outside as it was so lovely, and the staff were extremely friendly and attentive. Certainly glad we found Bebble's!

I tried here for the first time with my elderly Grandfather. We booked as had been told it gets busy and the staff organised an easily accessible table near the door. From the second we arrived until we left they made us feel very welcome. The menu is varied with everything from lighter bites to something a bit more substantial. I plumped for the Bucklers Salad which was very tasty and my Grandad chose the Estrella Battered Fish & Chips with mushy peas. It was a large portion and he scoffed it all!!!The presentation of the food was excellent and the ingredients were freshWell done Bucklers and the front of house staff, you have a winning combination

We were in Hailsham for just one night and having looked at the most recommended eating establishments, chose Callenders and were not disappointed. We were warmly welcomed by Rachel who looked after us all evening and assisted with some of the menu choices. Callenders offers a varied a la carte menu as well as daily specials on a blackboard. We had three courses of delicious, well prepared, well cooked and well presented food (there were three of us and we all chose different dishes). A nice touch is that all dishes on the menu are accompanied by a spefcified potato but Rachel said we could chose any type of potato to accompany our main dishes which we did. Another plus point is a reasonable wine selection at very reasonable prices. Raachel was attentive, efficient and most charming which helped make the whole vexperience most enjoyable. If we are in the vicinity again, we shall most definitely revisit Callenders..Hello Voyage28. Many thanks for taking the time to write such a lovely review for us. We are all so glad that you chose to visit us on your trip to Hailsham, and shall pass on all your kind comments to the staff involved. We work hard with all our local suppliers to provide good wines and great ingredients so that we can provide top quality food and drink at reasonable prices and we are so glad that you appreciated all the hard work put in by the team.We really do hope that you will visit Hailsham again soon and hope that we can look after you again. Until then, we wish you all the best and happy dining.Kindest regards from all the staff at Callenders

When walking on the Wealden Way we recommend taking the time to discover The Gun, an atmospheric pub-restaurant on the outskirts of Heathfield, East Sussex. This fifteenth century pub is full of period charm and countryside comfort, the interior carefully
Visited second time in a month having been many times when we lived in hailsham 35 years ago. Much much better than 35years ago!!! Great variety of food on the menu with lots of unusual dishes(pigeon, lobster, kebabs,) Can't fault the service or the food. Lovely clay oven where pizzas are freshly made. Lovely for family's with a pleasant garden, burger shack and bar. Would definitely recommend and will be back.Definitely need a sign on the main A22 road to show people where to go.
