Lamy's Diner is inside Henry Ford Museum.
This little diner inside The Henry Ford does a great job of providing a period accurate restaurant from 1946. The furniture, furnishings, dress, and even the menu appear accurate for that time and allows you to immerse yourself in a trip back in time. The menu is limited which is also accurate for the period. I tried to order a diet soda but they don't serve them because they did not exist in 1946. The food was pretty good diner food - I had a simple ham and cheese sandwich. Lot's of fun!
"Home Cooking at it's best." Family owned, by Adam Adamopoulos. 35 years experience in Family restaurant. Home-made soups, house-cooked meats for sandwiches that include a cup of soup. 4 Egg omelets with only fresh vegetables, apple smoked bacon, Dearborn
The name of the restaurant intrigued me. Was it named for the TV show and the movies or was it a coincident. It turns out to be the owners last name. His restaurant is open for only breakfast and lunch. It's open from 6am to 4pm. Sat.- Sun 8am to 4pm. There is a huge selection of breakfast items. You need to be hungry, as the omelettes have 4 eggs. There is a children's menu for both breakfast and lunch. As with breakfast, there is also a huge selection sandwiches, bergers dogs with all the trimmings. Many of the patrons were greeted by name. Several of them had conversations with each other. This is a friendly neighborhood restaurant.
This is a very good place to get good food at a good price. It is a roomy restaurant, with a very diverse menu. I don't live in the area, but I meet a friend there a couple times a year to catch on things. We have a meal and spend the rest of the time talking. The waitstaff is helpful and courteous. I've have both breakfast and lunch there. My fav is a veggie breakfast wrap made with eggbeaters and I ask to have turkey sausage added. Yum! The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. Garden City Cafe is definitely worth the visit.

My buddy and I decided to visit this restaurant based upon our Tripadvisor family. It was an excellent choice. Both he and I love hash, so he ordered the corned beef variety, two eggs and toasted rye bread. The hash is house made, not canned, with a generous portion of the corned beef with onions and green peppers along with fresh cut potatoes. Since this is a Greek Coney Island, I took a chance and asked if gyros could be substituted for the corned beef. I received a questionable look from our server but it only took her a moment to say, I think we can do that. It appeared to me no one had ever asked for the meat exchange. The gyros was a perfect match up for the hash. I also ordered two eggs over medium and rye toast, grilled, not toasted. Both of our meals were prepared exactly as ordered. I'm always glad when my buddy tells me I picked a good place for breakfast.

First, this place is open 24 hours and not bad for a bite when options are limited or you're in the mood for a coney island/old style lunch counter type experience. It isn't my first choice and don't expect anything more than average, but it is there when you need it and popular late night/post-bar crowd. 99 cent coney day on Tuesday. Breakfast specials all day. Carry out offered (extra fee). Mostly counter seating on fixed stools, but limited booth and tables also available. The interior is in need of a remodel, but that's part of the "charm" of the place. Off brand catchup and other staples and most of the cooking is either microwave, deep fried, or off the flat grill (including frozen waffles which are heated on the grill). They accept credit cards and the staff has always been friendly even if most of them look rough. It's not a bad place, and admittedly I do go there from time to time. Like many people I know that go there, I often end up there late night or when other options are limited. The burgers & fries, loose, coney, and breakfast offerings are likely your best option. Dinners are about $7.99 for most of them including grilled "baked" ham with potato and soup or salad. If other dine-in places are open, you will likely get more for your money and have wider options available elsewhere. This is not a date place unless you've both been drinking. The food is fine, the service is fine, and depending on what you order filling but don't go expecting much and you wont be disappointed.
