One of the top diving destinations in the world for its bright storybook coral reefs, the island of Cozumel is also home to a variety of natural beaches. Choose a beach with soft white sand for relaxing, or snorkel off a rockier vista. A destination for both adventure and romance, Cozumel has a year-round Caribbean climate, untrammeled jungle and abundant nightlife.

Bienvenido! to Josefina's Cocina con Alama. "Alma" the word for soul in Spanish is how authentic Mexican cooking begins. We invite you to explore and taste the many wonders of Mexcian cuisine through hands-on instruction with the wonderful cook & chef, Josefina. Join Josefina in her Cozumel home and kitchen for a day to learn how to make regional Yucatecan delights as well as other Mexican dishes. The class is designed for those that want a "taste" of Mexican culture (you will even get to visit the local market). It is set up for all ages to enjoy, yet comprehensive enough for those avid cooks looking to hone and learn new skills. Be prepared to eat as you will cook a feast suited for the Mayan gods!
We enjoyed learning how to make all our favorite dishes including refried frijoles, nopales salad, homemade tortillas, guacamole, mayan squash, margaritas and our favorite, achiote marinade. Josephina and her assistant are warm and inviting and very knowledgeable. My husband and I enjoyed the 5 hours we spent cooking and learning with Josephina. We will definitely take another class the next time we are in Cozumel.

The most demanded and oldest word-of-mouth Mexican cuisine cooking class on Cozumel. You will spend a wonderful time from start to end and lots of fun. Meet the Mexican chef who will guide you through the art and fun of preparing an exquisite three-course Mexican meal. Once you finish your creation, enjoy it, along with a well-deserved savory cocktail, at a private oceanfront dining room in great company and with a terrific view.
This is definitely a must do if you've ever had any interest in doing a cooking class (both my husband and I cook often but thought this would be something different to do). The day started off slow (first we had to wait for a bus which was not in the best years of it's life and then we had to wait additional time for the chef because he was "very busy") but once they called us in, it was so fun! You're in a building overlooking the ocean while you cook. The chef and assistance were VERY amusing and a lot of fun! We made an appetizer, main course and dinner. When we were done we went upstairs to enjoy what we made and when we were done we were free to do what we wanted for the remainder of the time. Next time we come back to Cozumel, I will definately come back! Such a fun time!!

When traveling abroad, we always look for opportunities that allow us to learn more about the culture and get a REAL taste of our host country. The Cozumel Cooking Class at Kondesa fulfilled and exceeded our expectations for a one-of-a-kind experience! We got lucky and were the only couple participating in the class on our day, which made this hands-on workshop even more special. Chef Daniel explained the origins of traditional Mayan foods, as well as the Spanish influence on the cuisine before we delved into making our three-course lunch. He and Chef Israel took us through the process of preparing fresh salsas, pressing homemade tortillas for our quesadillas and assembling a delicious Mayan style fish wrapped and grilled in banana leaves. We also learned how to make delicious Tamarind Margaritas – I guarantee you’ve never tasted anything like it! As someone who loves to cook, Chef Daniel opened my eyes to what I’ve been doing wrong all these years, LOL! The class includes a recipe e-Book, and I can’t wait to apply all that I learned when recreating the dishes at home. Special thanks to Chef Daniel for tips on where to find the ingredients stateside! The Cozumel Cooking Class team provides great hospitality and goes out of their way to create a wonderful and delicious day for visitors. This class is a must for those who are looking for a wonderful, unique experience!
