We arrived on our way to Como and had booked the Hotel Garibaldi and was very surprised to see the outside of the hotel in an rather ugly street, but after coming inside it was a Lovely Place. We had both lunch and dinner here.Lunch was Seafood Lasagna for me with lots of seafood and tasted really nice.My wife wanted a Tuna salad and it was not on the menu but no problem at all it was prepared the way she liked it and was very good. We had planned to go elsewhere for dinner but did choose to stay here as lunch was excellent and we are sure not sorry for that! We started with Parma ham and cheese and it was very good and fresh.My wife again did not want anything from the menu just boiled vegetables and again no problem and she did receive what she wanted and did finish Everything. I did order a beef tenderloin medium and had the best cut of beef I ever can remember that I had in Italy and I have been eating beef many many times in Italy absolut perfect cooked and when my beef arrived at the same time a table of 17 different seasalts and different oliveoils and other things was presented, just Amazing! We could not resist to have a desert after our wonderful meal and was shown to the front where they had an Amazing selection of deserts that all was explained in good English what it was.We did choose 2 different and if we would have had room for all of them we would have tried them all so good it was. A bottle of Red was ofcourse with our excellent dinner and I did end with a Bertha Grappa Bauriqqie. I promise to come back here this is one of the places in this World that is hard to forget.

We decided to organize a dinner in Vercelli, a small town north of Italy (piedmont). Vercelli is known to be the capitali of italian rice in a really foggy t,erritory but..we discovered a ligth..osteria capel rosso is a small typical restaurant nnthe center of the town. Good choiche of wines, particularly piedmontese wines. Good panissa, the tipical dish made of rice and beans. A good capel del prete with polenta all tasted with a really good dolcetto, a typical red regional wine. To end...2 different kinds of grappa that permitted us to forget the cold temperature outside...to sum up..a good experience

In zona centrale.Parcheggio disponibile, a pagamento.Locale con pochi coperti e con menù del giorno esposto su una grande lavagna.Nulla di scontato, interessanti le proposte ed ottima la qualità .Brillanti le ragazze in sala ed in cucina.Conto onestissimo.PS: ho apprezzato la possibilità di acquistare cibo da asporto su richiesta...

Premetto che sono incaricato di una nota e antica istituzione italiana che si occupa di difendere le tradizioni della buona tavola. Alcuni miei "colleghi" avevano gia testato in incognito la cucina di questo locale del giovanissimo chef Toshiro esprimendo pareri contrastanti. Così ho voluto provare di persona. Il locale è piacevole anche se si nota che si tratta di un ex bar trasformato in ristorante. Giovane e moderna la mise en place, ottimo il cestino del pane se fatto in casa, Ordino un vino nebbiolo le cui caratteristiche sono da me ben conosciute perché il produttore è della mia zona e subito iniziano le dolenti note sul servizio, infatti l'oste non nota o fa finta di non accorgersi che il vino era stato chiaramente (percepibile anche all'olfatto) contaminato dal tappo, glissa dicendo che si tratta di un vino d'annata.... Veniamo ai piatti. Carne cruda battuta al coltello con, a parte, rosso d'uovo affumicato di buona qualita ma asciutta e senza nessuno slancio, prosciutto spagnolo di belota 24 mesi tagliato al coltello buono ma servito senza, e ribadisco senza, nessun accompagnamento. Almeno un mini gazpacho, una salsa all'aglio, alla peggio fette di pane tostato, no! Nulla....Il piatto principale: filetto flambato al cognac (uno dei piatti più cari in lista euro 29).Un disastro epocale. Il filetto è servito a fettine tipo tagliata, la flambatura è inconsistente, vengono lasciati i laccetti che rendono poco piacevole la masticazione, il tutto servito senza alcun contorno!!! Alle nostre richieste di contorno ci viene risposto: "é flambato, non esiste contorno...." mah!!!Crem caramel buono.Peccati di gioventù, sono sicuro che il giovane chef Toshiro farà tesoro di questo e crescerà guadagnandosi il consenso che si merita.Prezzo esagerato per essere a Vercelli.
