âYou donât see many restaurants like this anymoreâ Nicholas Jordan, Broadsheet Manlyâs newest seafood restaurant, is located just off the beach in a landmark site that locals have long admired. The Herring Room is family owned & run by veterans of the ind
Having visited The Sardine Room in Potts Point five years ago, I was sad it has closed; however, the owners decided to move the business to Manly and open up the Herring Room. I remained on their mailing list all this time so I knew they had moved.Five years later, I returned to Sydney and the first place I had to visit was the Herring Room. So, after five years the lovely owners Ange and Rodney recognised me and that made my evening. Not only that, I asked about a particular dessert Iâd had at The Sardine Room (a Greek semolina pudding) which wasnât on the menu at the Herring Room. Low and behold, Rodney only went home to get me some so I could have it again. Now thatâs service for you. Sometimes you come across a special place and special people like Ange and Rodney. The Sardine Room lives on in the Herring Room, because the owners have kept the reputation and quality of the service and food to a very high standard and people keep coming back.Itâs worth the ferry ride across from the CBD just to visit The Herring Room and be greeted by the excellent staff and lovely owners.

Why Hemingwayâs Manly? Ernest Hemingway called Paris his home in the 1920s because, âThe most interesting people of the world lived in Paris at that time,â (Pablo Picasso, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Coco Chanel, etc.) and apparently because the monetary exchang

If you like great food, meeting new people and originality in dining experiences, then this is definitely for you. Whilst we knew we were going, we only found out that morning where we were going to be hosted. This is definitely part of the charm of the whole experience. Once you walk through the doors, you are greeted with champagne, canapes, interesting people (your fellow diners) and the welcome of both Shaun and Michelle. They are great hosts and clearly have such a passion for what they are doing. The conversation, the food and excellent wines flow all evening. I would recommend this to anyone and we will certainly be doing it again!

After hearing rave reviews about this place I finally decided to check it out for myself. Perfect for vegans and those that love vibrant healthy food, Verd's menu consists entirely of plant based options including salad bowls, rice bowls, raw treats and a good selection of drinks. Their serving sizes are generous and very filling. I had the Myoko rice bowl ($14.90) with a side of avocado ($2). The food was fresh, nutritious and delicious. I loved the flavour, the textures and the vibrant presentation. The tofu was particularly good. I'm an omnivore, but I didn't feel like anything was lacking with the absence of meat. It's nice to eat out and feel like you are doing something good for your body. You can dine in, take away or order delivery through UberEats. When ordering, you order and pay at the counter and they call out your name and your order when your food is ready to collect. They accept cash or credit. The café looks out towards the Whistler St carpark, which has 2 hours free parking. It is also easily accessible by bus or ferry.
