Reviews on Contemporary food in Dun Laoghaire, Province of Leinster, Ireland. Dún Laoghaire (Irish pronunciation: [d̪ˠuːn̪ˠ ˈɫeːrʲə]) is a suburban coastal town in County Dublin, Ireland, about 12 km (7.5 miles) south of Dublin city centre. It is the county town of the Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown district. Formerly a major port of entry from Great Britain, it was known as Dunleary until 1821 when it was renamed Kingstown in honour of King George IV's visit that year, and in 1920 was given its present name, the original Irish form of Dunleary.

My wife and son were here last night on recomendations. Were'nt impressed. Wife had Highway curry, heard it was lovely, nothing special. Son had Tikka Masala, nothing special either. Very expensive for what you get. Would'nt be bothered going back. Dose'nt come even near to Shakira in Dun Laoghaire!!!!!!

The Waterfront Bistro accommodates lunch and evening dining. A great dining experience at ordinary prices. Wednesday to Sunday nights it transforms into a sophisticated dining area with excellent dishes and beautiful wines on offer
On our first evening in Dún Laoghaire we had dinner at the Waterfront Bistro. We enjoyed it so much that we came back the next evening. (We might have come again on our third and last day, but that would have clashed with a European qualifier match against the Dutch. Alas, weâd better dined here again and not watched this humiliating loss...)The Waterfront Bistro is outstanding in many ways. The food is excellent, the wine list put together with great skill, the Guinness perfectly drawn into a chilled glass, and the proprietor makes you feel at home from the moment you step through the door. They offer a very refined way of home cooking. The soups of the day (for example parsnip/ginger) are soul-warming and have just the right consistency, not too thick and not too thin. The fish & chips were the best I ever had â Iâve had lots over there in the UK -, and I had to ask for more of the delicious remoulade sauce. The salads come dressed with a fine vinaigrette (on day 2, the greens would have benefitted from another washing cycle). We had them with goat cheese and with an interesting combination of pigeon and crispy fried pancetta. The vegetable linguine and the slow cooked pork belly were another examples of how to turn a rather ordinary dish into an epiphany (Iâm not exaggerating here). The mussels I had for starters were such a generous pile that it would have sufficed easily for a full meal; they were so delicious that I couldnât help licking my fingers instead of using the iced lemon water. On the first evening the ladies had some room left for dessert, in other words the options were too tempting. They had the mousses (mango/passion fruit and white chocolate/raspberry), both with vanilla ice cream. The photos speak for themselves.I wonder what the Michelin fellows were thinking when they visited Dún Laghoire the last time. A plate is the least we would award, but actually this place deserves a bib gourmand.Your review has been shared with all the staff and we are all thrilled. Thanks so much!

Fresh, vibrant cooking in a relaxed, casual environment. Lots of Cookbooks and Music books to browse through in our neighbourhood hub. Breakfast and Lunch have lots of rustic dishes, full of flavour. Evening times are a cool step up, with more serious dis
Had dinner with my wife early on Saturday. Service friendly and prompt. I had a prawn starter and ravioli as a main course which were both very good. My wife had a lamb dish for main course which was very poor. The meat was so tough it was practically inedible. The supervisor said he would mention it to the chef!Hi Tom, Thank you for your feedback. Sorry to hear your wife found the Lamb tough, we remember 2 perfectly clean plates so are a little confused. Maybe alert us on the evening if, on the rare chance, you are unhappy again. We hope you return to enjoy our food, we put so much into the preparation, cooking & garnishing. You left behind your black beanie hat, we have it safe in our lost and found box. Warm regards, Audrey
