This cathedral was built in 1886, and is known for its beautiful Romanesque architecture.
It is a beautiful church, with its inspirational stained glass windows, grand arches and baptismal. Then there was the docent, Mary, who made our visit very special, by giving us a personal tour that was educational, explaining about La Conquistadora, learning the history of how it became a Basilica, the history of the relics, the history of the stained glass windows especially the story of La Conquistadora, how she is cared for, the celebrations that are around her. There was so much more. It was a sacred visit and we felt so connected to the cathedral and the holy spirit residing here. Thank you for a supernatural experience. If you can join a tour of the cathedral it is well worth the time spent.

After leaving Chimayo and then on my way to Santa Fe to see the downtown area, I realized I had no idea where I was going but I knew about going left as I entered the city. So I just "happened" to turn on Agua Fria Street and there it was, Santuario de Guadalupe. It was open to my surprise and so I was thankful. I soon found my way to the gift shop where I met a wonderful couple managing the gift shop. They told me all about their beautiful Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe and some details unknown to me and they gave me a poster of the magnificent painting in their church from Mexico. I was also taken to the area close to the center where I got to see the main Cathedral of St Francis and Lady of Loretto and also Cristo del Rey further down the road. What a pleasant experience for me. Thank you most precious Sacred and Immaculate Hearts of Jesus and Mary for guiding me there and I think praying the Rosary before Juan Diego and Our Lady in the Santuary of Chimayo that morning was indeed a Blessing.
