Food consistently good and service friendly. I consider this Chinese-American because they offer Pu-pu platter-type appetizers such as Beef Teriyaki, Chicken Wings and Chicken Fingers. Tasty for what they are, just not authentic. You need to go to Amherst to find Authentic Chinese Food in Western Mass. Our favorite dishes at West Lake are Sesame Chicken and Beef with Snow Peas. Fried Tofu with Mixed Veggies is good too if you are willing to try tofu.

We live in Holyoke but now go over the mountain to get food from here. The food is good the service is great and they are very friendly. The portions are big and the prices are average. We used to go to them when they were in Holyoke but I like the new location much better

From two more or less unverifiable sources on the internet there are some 40,000 Chinese Restaurants in the United States. That number sounds roughly accurate, and if so, I would estimate some 90% of them have a menu that looks almost the same. Clearly, a far cry from what you might find in any authentic Chinatown, but something that has become a staple of American society. From the bare bones decor, Zodiac paper place mats, generic soy sauce dispenser, sparsely populated aquarium, very inexpensive luncheon specials. mass market fortune cookies and inexpensive tin ware you could easily be in another similar place a few miles down the street or a thousand miles away in another nearly anonymous shopping center. But that is not meant to disparage the large helpings of reasonably well prepared food, friendly greeting and fair value at Golden Peacock. Long before "fast food" inundated our American landscapes, there always seemed to be a Chinese restaurant that stayed open nearly every day and gave us a break from our everyday fare without seriously denting the bank account.True, I get a little queasy when there are no similar ethnic customers, the outside door and mat haven't been cleaned in a long time and the ambiance is plain and forlorn. Still, the pork fried rice was tasty, the luncheon specials were piled high and on a hot summer day large glasses of ice water replaced the traditional teapot. The dinner menu looks more ambitious, and there is a small bar for libations. While I would not go out of my way to come back soon, the overall impression is of a competent and reliable source for Chinese-American food.
It becomes obvious fairly quickly that Tong Sing is a family-run restaurant. There is a warmth and friendliness here that can be lacking in retail strip establishments. All of the food is prepared within sight of the diners and the results are very, very good. While much of the business is take-out, there are five or six booths and a few tables for those who wish to dine on the premises. The decor is fairly standard, but the space is tidy and clean with any extras one might wish to add to the dishes readily available.Check the clock for specials which are offered at specific times of day. Lunches, for example, are put together with a main dish, fried rice and a choice of sides, all very reasonably priced. You may miss Tong Sing from the road, as it sits behind a busy Dunkin Donuts drive-thru, but if you make the effort, you will be well rewarded.
