J's Prairie Rose Café. We serve family-recipe food that will surely satisfy your appetite.Enjoy delicious food that is available in dine-in or carryout orders.
Waiting on the street on Saturday morning was quick. Sat at the bar and chatted with staff and other patrons. Husband had breakfast burrito and I had the stack, both outstanding! We only ate half and save the rest for later that day. Only had to pay for one meal out.

I have never had a breakfast here I did not like. The picture below is of the 17th Street Stacker - hash browns piled high with peppers and onions a sauce then topped with eggs your style. It was fabulous. They have burritos and and Ranch Benedict and everything in between. It is all made well and tastes excellent! In good weather you can sit on the patio, which is delightful. Mornings are never hot in the mountains. Good eats and a friendly atmosphere at 17th Street Café.

New owners a couple of years ago have made it a great place to go again. I live here, and refused to go in for a number of years. It is now clean and uncluttered, and the menu is great! Lots of variety and several modern twists on classic dishes. My favorite is the avocado eggs benedict. The only disappointment are the regular new faces of the wait staff. They just don't have the experience to give great service, but they try hard. No real problems, but I just don't like to run out of coffee during breakfast.

Golden Prairie Bakery is located just off of Hwy 130 and Hwy 12 west of Laramie. We provide fresh baked bread, cookies, pastries, cakes, pies and more. Golden Prairie Bakery is open Friday's and Saturdays from 10am until 6pm and other days for custom orde
Heading to the mountains for a hike and decided to stop at the out of the way little bakery for the first time. Several friends have stopped with mixed reviews so we decided to check it out for ourselves. This bakery sits few miles outside of town just off St Rt 130, heading to Centennial, WY. Small red building 1/4 mile from road. Upon entering there is a small seating area with 2 high top tables and against the window, with a great view, a long âbreakfast barâ type shelf to pull a chair up and watch the Prairie. The facility was very clean and the lady who owns it and does the baking was very friendly and dressed in chef hat, jacket & colorful culinary pants. Packaging of food was simple & adequate. We were told their bread was sold out for the day. She mentioned she bakes bread all one day & freezes it for sale through the week. There is a bakery display case & a reach in cooler stocked with goodies as well as a basket of coffee cake on a small table with decorative cloth. One can purchase whole cakes & pies or individual items. We saw a container of chicken soup as well. There was a display with a variety of teas & some other prepackaged items but we did not investigate this. It appeared that $40 was the going price for cakes & pies. We decided upon: slice of peanut butter pie ($5.95) box of 5 truffles ($7.95) & a piece of coffee cake ($4.95). Peanut butter pie: was so dense it was hard to swallow - even when soft at room temp. The peanut butter middle was not too sweet which I appreciated. The chocolate crumb crust was extremely thick and difficult to get a fork through. It was too sugary. There was a thin layer of ganache on top that lacked shine. Truffles: 2 carrot cake with white coating; 2 champagne with white coating; 1 ganache with something mixed it (I forget). What a disservice to truffles! More like was cake balls. First off the owner was telling me about the variety. She mentioned white chocolate and I replied âcoatingâ. She corrected me that she only uses they highest quality while chocolate and it IS chocolate. Well - there is NO such thing as white chocolate - it is a coating, not chocolate. Anyway: the white coating was so thick it detracted from the taste of the interior of the truffle. The champagne truffles tasted like nothing other than white coating. The center was bland and would have been lost with any coating. The only thing that marginally saved the carrot cake truffle was the spices in the cake - well done! Again, white coating overpowered the center. The carrot cake truffles were coated in the white coating and rolled in toasted coconut. The toasted coconut was well done and gave an appealing finish. The chocolate truffle was the best of them all but whatever the flavoring in the center - it was indistinguishable. Ganache was heavy and just off the mark. Perhaps a pinch of good kosher salt & some pure Good quality vanilla? The coffee cake is being saved for breakfast but it looks extremely well baked with good rise. Color is spot on. We tried this bakery and $16.40 later with dismal results we will certainly not purchase desserts there again. Maybe we will try some bread but will be sure to purchase fresh and not frozen. Hello. Thank-you for your feedback. You happened to come in after a very busy weekend when we were almost all sold out. I was apparently not clear in explaining that we bake fresh bread on Fridays and Saturdays but also bake bread on Tuesdays and wednesdays that is frozen and sold anytime. You have over quoted some of my prices, but my goal is to sell premium quality baked goods that I make with premium quality ingredients. I appreciate your feedback as I truly work to produce excellent products. I have a satisfaction guarantee. Please bring anything back (after sampling a bit of it) that you do not care for and I will replace it with something else for you to try. Sorry about the confusion with the white chocolate, I understand what you are saying about it not technically being chocolate as is never contains chocolate liquor. My experience with using the word "coating" is that a coating is made with oils, not cocoa butter. The golden carrot nuggets are cake balls, but we sell them with the truffles, which also contain some cake. It was a very long day and I apologize for not explaining this to you. I do hope you will try our fresh breads and perhaps something else more to your liking. We try our best to stay fully stocked and are working on increasing our ability to produce more.
