Been travelling to this area for 4 years now and seen the towns of Yalikavak and Gumusluk expand and spoiling what was once a beautiful place. Mars Cafe remains a warm, friendly place and unlike other bars in Gumusluk won't rip you off. Food is great - especially if you go on meze night (Tues and Fri) the beer is reasonably priced too. It feels like a good old 'local pub' which you get back home.

Our prime location for lingering over a Turkish breakfast is at the Mandolin Café, adjacent to the boat jetty. Itâs a good spot for watching the fishermen pottering around on their boats, and is a relaxing mix of early rising tourists and locals. You also have a ring-side seat for the small stall where the fisherman auction off their catch of the day. Last time I was there the fisherman found a 10â baby shark in their nets, and a neighbourhood cat took off with it around the harbour square ⦠with all of the other cats in hot pursuit. You canât buy that kind of entertainment!

When you get to Gumusluk, having walked past the art stalls you get to the sea front. If you want to be constantly hassled by waiters trying to get you into their overpriced and uncomfortable fish restaurants then turn right. That's what most visitors to Gumusluk do.If on the other hand you want to see another side of Gumusluk then turn left. Keep walking along the coast past the tea garden on the right, the club on the left and after about 200m you'll see the Jazz Café right on the beach. In the evenings they have live music. If you don't like jazz, don't be put off by the name, they have music other than jazz as well. Yes, you will have to pay 30TL per head to sit on the beach during the live concerts but it's worth it. Here's a tip - if you are also eating there then be sure to bargain the price down. We managed to get it down to 15TL per head. Good food, friendly atmosphere.

Fab Food. No menu, you just got what you were given, which in our case was a delicious cheese and spinach borek, stuffed courgette flowers, kofte, potatoes and aubergines, with a salad and bread. Felt very full afterwards and it was excellent value. Everyone was smiley and helpful and the young boy who served us was very attentive. As we were eating our meal, the lady of the house was preparing tomorrow's menu, which looked like stuffed vine leaves.

Called here for a late afternoon drink and was a bit underwhelmed by the staff and the atmosphere. Location is stunning and therefore disappointed with lack of charisma as I anticipated this would be a regular 'watering hole' on our way back to our holiday house.
