Red Apple Cafe

Went for breakfast solo on a Saturday morning. Signed their wait list for “first available” and ended up on the patio after a short wait. French roast coffee was good, but staff were too few, and it took forever to get a refill. I ordered a special “Steak Benedict” (about $15) and it was nothing short of horrible. A small pile of grizzled “meat remnants” that was strewn over an English Muffin with annoying tough sinew and gristle. Bad food and bad service created the ultimate bad experience.

Sandy's Country Junction

Ate at Sandy's Country Junction and expected an outstanding breakfast based on how crowed the restaurant was. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and waiter. He took our order and based on how busy they were, we were somewhat disappointed that the meal took a long time to be brought to our table. We were truly disappointed at how "average" the breakfast was.and will definitely not keep this restaurant on our list.

Benaddiction - Rockin' Good Food

Our recent try at this new place in Fresno has us craving for more. try "Stick Shifts and Safety Belts" this is an awesome dish, well balanced and full of flavor. I've been thinking about going back soon. YUMMY! The space is a bit small, but the wait was not bad for a Sunday morning. Seating is tight and the chairs are a bit small, but ok for a nice quick meal that is so wonderfully delicious. Space is limited so it is not a place where you'd want to sit for hours visiting, but that is a good thing, otherwise the wait would be ridiculously long. While there having our meal we saw dozens of people coming in and picking up take-out orders. After our meal I understood why! Great tasting food for sure!!!

Train Depot

Reviewed By Mark Douglas M

When Train Comes In, ……EVERYBODY DINES…!Good Afternoon TripAdvisor Friends, Well, there it goes, the 7:43 AM AMTRAK Train wakes me up almost every day, as visions of riding up and down California and the memories over the years dance in my head like sugar plums, the same way Dickens wrote about in The Night before Christmas. Well, I suppose the sounds of train horns and train tracks is a far cry from my home, but thoughts for breakfast on the train is a beloved memory; something I miss and enjoy while traveling, but, enough about traveling on the train. Let’s talk about something closer to home; the desire for a good and proper breakfast at places in my community, known for good food. Each week, I accompany my retired co-worker who enjoys good food at a reasonable price. Sometimes, we end up at Lenny’s Mikey D’s, and BJ’s. Of course, I do appreciate the company and the food, but after a time, we both long for something different, so we keep any eye peeled for any place that’s close for some good chow and a decent environment. Actually, I remember a place, located on First Street and McKinley. There was all this talk about a Train Depot; a place that had very good food and featured trains of all things as its claim to fame. For the longest time, I didn’t give it a second thought. I was busy with life, responsibilities, and commitments, so seeking out the best places was sort of secondary. Well guess what? ...One day, I heard on the news the Train Depot restaurant shopping center fell victim to a fire. The place was totaled and for me, it was simply the end of another era and another place. Happily, after a year or so, I realized the owners weren’t about to fall prey to fire, and so they made the decision to search for another location, close to the place where the once served good food. One afternoon, I noticed the placement of a large logo on the windows on a popular anchor shopping center. From what I gathered, it looked as if the Train Depot was back in business, and from the looks of things, BUSINESS IS GOOD..! So, I passed by, drove by, and never had the presence of mind to actually stop-in and have a meal and learn what all the fuss was all about. Wow I said after I checking out the place, for the food, décor, and clientele was right; very right. We stopped in, the place had a very simple; even plain entrance. One would have no idea how nice and cozy the TRAIN DEPOT is, simply by passing by on Ashlan Street. So, once you walk-in, you find yourself whisked away into a very busy, simple, clean, and well decorated café that pretends to be nothing more than what it is. The café features red and white checkered table cloths, simple cermanic bright white coffee mugs, and standard comfortable café chairs. The place was filled with people who sat in all the booths and stand alone tables, so we walked up to the Ticket Taker Window, asked to be seated, and were quickly escorted to the table of our choice. The menu is plentiful, breakfast selections are standard and diverse. I wanted for nothing. The selections were a solid portion and the bread choices were standard and properly toasted. The coffee service I can’t help but find just a little wanting. I would prefer a more diligent reheat once and twice, but other than that, we felt welcome and well taken care of as our dishes, cups, plates of side dishes, and additional needs were responded to with a smile and everybody in the restaurant can be heard, having wonderful conversations about their day, events, and making pleasant conversation. We finished our meal, went up to the Ticket Attendant Window to pay for our wonderful meal and the bright sunny sky with blue skies filled the restaurant with happiness and mirth. An excellent experience. I recommend the place if you want some of the better food in Central Metropolitan Fresno. Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars. – Recommended. That’s all for now friends. Have a better day and remember: When the Train Depot diners come in –EVERYBODY DINES! WHOO WHOOO! - Mark, Fresno, California
