Chai Cafe is a lovely oasis on the upper ridge of Chiang Dao. The coffee is phenomenal (get some of the local beans to take home!), the food is made with great care, and the owners are very friendly. Hands down the best place to eat or drink up on the ridge. I also appreciate that the smoking table was placed far away from the rest of the seating ;)Open mornings and afternoons. I'd have eaten dinner here too, if I could!
Where to eat Asian food in Chiang Dao: The Best Restaurants and Bars
Best Khao Soi I had in Thailand and so filling! I asked for vegan version and it was no problem, came with tofu and was super delicious. I came back the next day and had the special pad thai and it was also incredible, very unique flavour. Do yourself a fabour and don't drink coffee anywhere else, just come here. All the fruit they serve is organic, grown in their garden, can't go wrong with that.

We serve local, organically shade-grown Arabica coffee beans freshly roasted every day. We also serve simple, soul-food. There are also free wi-fi, toilet, showers, and camping grounds, where you can stop by and prepare for your trip further north :)
Café My Day Off is a new family run place in the fields behind the village and with a mountain backdrop. It serves excellent coffee and is very tranquil and peaceful. It's not on the Thaton - Chiang Mai Highway 107 so you have to double back a little and turn left on a small access toad from Highway 1178. It's worth it.
