Marisolio Tasting Bar

The first time I came here was six or seven years ago, and just loved it, with each product seeming to taste even better than the last. Since that first visit I've purchased from them many times online (I live nearly 400 miles away) and have visited during every trip to Calaveras County. They send out occasional recipe and cooking ideas, which is very much appreciated. I have visited many other olive oil/balsamic tasting rooms, but Marisolio's products are by far the best.

Winter awesome time to go! WAY less crowded. Very cool small museum. We’re told in the museum to ask if Conrad could give us a tour when we went to the tasting room. He was not in the room and the head of security, Steve, said he’d give us one! And boy did he. He was wonderful! Such a family feeling of a huge grounds, 500 acres, caves, concert venue, heard great stories and antidotes. Highlight!

Mercer Caverns

Ducking down steep stairs (there are rails on each side), with a group of about 15 other people and a knowledgeable guide (Thanks Diane!) made this cave a fun adventure. We went on the 10:30 first tour and it was perfect! It fills up fast because they can only take a limited group of people due to the stairs and platfroms, so I recomend the early tour. By the time we left, it was booked until 2:30 PM. Lots of things to see!

Old Timers Museum

Our purpose is to inform and educate the public about the rich history of the Murphys area, especially of the Gold Rush period and of the Native American and other cultures that once prospered here. The museum has an extensive collection of mining artifacts, period clothing, photographs, news clippings and journals of pioneer families as well as superb examples of Miwok and other tribal basketry and tools.
