Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail

The National Park Service has done a great job here. Signage is perfect, the points of interest along the trail are noted, and the surface is very bikable. Scenery along Lake Michigan is awesome and made the most of here.

Sleeping Bear Point Maritime Museum

This museum is very informative and thorough. Do not let the size deter you because the in-depth explanations and visuals through various old boat items more than make up for it. Also very close to Lake Michigan’s shore.

Over the past 25 years Cherry Republic in Leelanau County’s Glen Arbor has become somewhat of a religious journey for me. Year after year I return with my wife, family, and friends. I just visited two weekends in a row! While I fondly recall it’s humble beginnings...sharing space with the coffee roaster, today’s CR is a destination. Wine tasting, clothing and packaged food (chocolate cherry samples!), beer, ice cream, delicious meals, and an outdoor space with games and tables make this a great place to spend some time. There’s really nothing here that I wouldn’t recommend! The wine tasting is free so be sure to buy a bottle or two and leave with an ice cream cone or the old standard, the Boomchunka (cookie).
