I loved the well planned spiral walkway to the look out with information boards on the way up. Beautiful vegetation and stunning views from the top. It was a clear blue sky when we were there and we seemed to be able to see forever.

See what truly stops NZ from rejoining Australia and how far away we really are from anything. Our first day to explore the magnificent South Island took us on a drive from Wanaka to Bluff the longer way via Otago, through hills and valleys of Alexandra to Gore. Some beautifully stunning mountains and farms were passed too as we weaved our way south. Onward, toward the southern most town of the South Island. Bluff host oyster shucking competitions - in May (no oysters seen in December). The sign post lived up to its photographic iconic-ness! And there’s even a restaurant just there if you want! First experience of the South Island talkin’ loo (bathroom) too what a hoot! Disappear to the ends of ... NZ ... and see what Mariners of old would have - oceans tempestuously beating - or waves rolling in on a smooth rock shore.

Fantastic wee museum for a little NZ town. Loved the two interactive engines, displays and all the information. Bluff is a fascinating little town and this museum shares its history proudly. Stop by for an hour and enjoy!

The signpost at Stirling Point in Bluff, NZ marks the start/finish of the Te Araroa (New Zealand's Trail), the 3000 km trail that connects the southernmost point in the South Island to Cape Reinga, the northernmost point in the North Island. The signpost also shows the mileage to New York, London, and other major cities of the world. Just a few feet away is an impressive Maori sculpture, a metal chain link structure leading to the sea. Very cool!
