Stretching 25 miles from the Birmingham suburbs to the River Avon in Stratford, this scenic waterway passes through enchanting countryside in the very heart of England, cutting through the Forest of Arden and an area rich in Shakespearean history.
an idyllic way to spend 2 hours and watch the world go by on a balmy sunny afternoon in Stratford-upon-Avon. Well worth the fee for the boat trip with commentary, see the fantastic dwellings along the sides of the canal, the Church where Shakespeare is buried, watch University rowers speed past you practising, families of ducks navigating along side you, it's simply outstanding. You get to go past the Royal Shakespeare company theatre too. All in all fabulous, tranquil and immensely enjoyable

State of the art locks were built at Hatton to flight off stiff competition from the roads and railways in the 1930's. When the locks were completed bands played and crowds gathered to watch the Duke of Kent arrive by boat and cut the ribbon. Today Hatton Locks is a lovely peaceful location to watch the colourful narrowboats as they move through the flight and if thats too much excitement why not enjoy a picnic or bite to eat in the cafe.
We were looking for something to pass the time on a wet day and stumbled across Hatton Locks. Fantastic watching a narrow boat navigate the locks. The cafe is comfortable with friendly staff and good snacks and lunches. The car parking system is AWFUL and will put many off which is a real shame

A very interesting boat trip and a very informative crew very helpful with my dog who really didn't want to go down the boat steps (but liked it when she did) shame we couldn't have gone further.

There is also a sailing club and trout fishery for those looking for an activity to get involved with and the recently refurbished visitor centre is now open. Please note dogs are not permitted around the reservoir however they are welcome in the Country Park
Draycote water is a great place for a 5 mile walk, run or bike ride, with flat surfaces and well kept paths and hedges.Kids can enjoy the play area located at the top and afterwards some refreshments in a very pleasant cafe with superb views overlooking the lake.Sunshine is always a bonus, but you can still have a great time with suitable clothing should the weather turn.p
