With a population of just over 600 people, Niue's humble capital, Alofi, is home to much of the island nation's industry, its government and the only bank in the country. The area is marked by steep limestone cliffs, coastal caves and the beautiful Alofi Bay. 2004's Cyclone Hete caused extensive damage to the southern half of the city, but essential services such as the hospital and government buildings have since been rebuilt in more protected locations.

Oz, thank you for having us at your guest house. We loved it, starting at the airport where you met us with your beaming smile. Our family suite came with a rental car, very relaxed, spacious, clean, no mosquitoes as this was our main concern for our boys. Enjoyed chilling out on the verandah for breakfast, dinner, good convo with lots of laughter & a glass or two of wine..lol. The outdoor communal kitchen was handy, great idea. Thank you for the coconuts & pawpaws. Real value for money & a great host. We totally recommend Alekis to anyone who loves the tropics. Fakaaue lahi Oz. Jury, Steve & boys

Neal picked me up from the airport and showed me the highlights of the town on our way to the guesthouse. He offers furnished units and single or family rooms. Hiring a car does help to see more of the island, Neal has bikes that you can use but you have to be aware of dogs chasing you on the island.

This freshly renovated, well-established property is situated right in the heart of Alofi, close to all shops and all public services. "The Personal Touch" Peleni’s is a former family home and still retains that "family" atmosphere.
We stayed at the guesthouse during the all time we spent in Niue. Ensuite rooms, 3 in total, sharing the living room and the kitchen. Milk, coffee/tea and sugar provided. Towels and lines as well. Fan available in the room, working efficiently. As a guesthouse it's perfect as a backpacker place. The family run work also for Air NewZealand and that helped us a lot to easily manage our pick up and drop off at the airport as we were on delay at our arrival and we didn't know that the check in for the departure closes really early compared to all the other airports around the world ( they do everything manually and they need time to process all the data and luggages ). Kitchen amenities provided, hot water never missed, strategic position ( at walking distance from all the place available in alofi ). 5$ p.p one way from/to the airport

We offer two exclusive one-bedroom self-catered petite accommodations for a more personal stay for that home-away-from-home feel. Get away from your busy lifestyle to a stress-free environment to enjoy the natural surroundings of nature and wildlife that Hatava has to offer.
Everything was perfect! Great location near main shops, restaurants and airport (all within walking distance). Our host Tania is a consummate host. She picked us up at the airport, gave us lots of good information, and went the extra mile to make us feel welcome and relaxed. We loved the location right next to the NZ High Commission's building, and a short walk to Swansons grocery. Tania had stocked the fridge for us before we arrived. But of course we wanted to try food and fun everywhere we could find it. And we found soooooo many great people and beautiful snorkelling areas. As avid snorkelers, we have sought out 20 or more well-known hot spots. But Niue is perhaps the finest of them all. We snorkelled inside cavers, in a chasm, Hio Beach, Limu Pools, and (most fish I have ever seen) Avatele Beach (near Washaway cafe). Petite Hatava was the perfect home base to explore all these locations (many by foot and some by car, which is a necessity to get to Washaway cafe). The unit is completely separated from Tania's house. So plenty of privacy, space to cook, relax, play with pups or look at free range chickens that populate most of the island. But Tania is just 10 meters away. She lent us a knife from her kitchen to crack a coconut. Great fun! Thanks, Tania and family!!! You all helped make our experiences in Niue truly memorable. We are already planning to return and stay with you again (if you are not all booked out already!).
