We use Hays County for dinner, parties, etc. It is the best and always receives great comments from all who eat it. You can't go wrong here. It was remodeled recently with loads of seating.

Met friends there on a friggin Hot A—Saturday as they wanted a ‘pet friendly’ place to bring their dogs. Inside seating fills up fast and even the big fans they put outside do not help – It’s HOT-HOT-HOT on their outdoor seating area – BBQ – WAS fantastic – It’s great seeing your ‘cutters’ making your meal and the beef ribs are HUGE. Had brisket and baby-back ribs and all was great. Would highly recommend this place as clean and friendly and great service both inside and out. The sides they offer are OK as everyone has their opinion on beans, potato salad , green beans and such.I’d go back and if you want to eat in a cool area during the summer; get there EARLY.

Love this place!!! We cannot wait to get to SM/NB area for SM Bbq! This trip we were there for Tues Bbq special. ”By the plate” and “by the pound” specials— opted for “by the pound” with lots of their delicious tater salad .... yummmmm .... bought enough of both to take home with us ... discovering SM BBQ was lucky, returning is inevitable!! We were very disappointed with this restaurant. We got the brisket, ribs and sausage. This some of the worst sausage I have ever had and I am a sausage connoisseur. The brisket was flavorless and the ribs dry. Thank goodness we used a Groupon for this place and didn't pay full price. Even then it wasn't worth it. Too many good BBQ places in the San Marcos/Austin area to waste your time here.

I have been here several times and every time it is a taste tempting treat. You can get chopped or sliced brisket. All plates come with a choice if two sides. Green beans, Cole slaw, potato salad and pinto beans. Nice consistent staff. A local hangout right off I-35. Very good.
