Hoping my visit was an exception to the rule. Got the lunch special. Pulled bbq chicken was dry. Bun was dry. At least it was easy to avoid and save calories. Green beans ok, but underseasoned. Mashed potatoes no better than school cafeteria. Soda machines broken so had to resort to iced tea. Stopped drinking when struck by mildew flavor. Sorry, since I really wanted to like this place.Hi Cindy,Iâm so sorry. We will look into the issues with the food. The soda machine went down that morning, and we were waiting on Pepsi to come out and fix it. We apologize, and will address your other concerns with our staff. I truly hope you will try Hickory River again, as we never want to lose a customer. Thank you.

Where to Eat in Huber Heights: The Best Restaurants and Bars
Feeling like I wanted something different, I thought Iâd try the new barbque place. This used to be a TGIFridays. Upon entering, I noticed nothing changed except some new decorations on the walls and new light fixtures. Oh well, heard it was good food anyway. Um, that is not the case here. I do have to say the collard greens were hot and flavorful. The cornbread was okay but sweet. I order ribs. Donât do it. They were fatty and greasy. My wife ordered the brisket. Donât make this costly mistake. They brought her a plate of shredded meat. Since when has brisket ever been served shredded like pulled pork? It was like warm, grey and tasteless. She politely ate half but that was all she could manage two choke down. Iâm not a barbque snob, but my efforts to smoke ribs and brisket far surpass what we were served. It really was not worth the $60 tab. Enter at your own risk.!

We waited a long long time to get our dinner. Not sure if they were short handed because the place was not busy. The waitress did her best to keep us informed. You could tell she was almost embarrassed it was taking so long. Once the food did come out it was great. Might try again but not sure.
