This was the best meal we had on São Miguel (all week!) The food was delicious. We had sirloin steak with a local sauce and chicken with a creamy mushroom sauce, both had homemade chips. They also sell local craft ales (the pineapple one is worth trying!) And the staff were very friendly. There's a nice atmosphere with lovely decor too. Would highly recommend!

Nicely located close to the botanical gardens in FURNAS. About 100 yards around the corner ..it has a nice cozy inside outside areas..Good menu with salads and pizza, sandwiches ..etc ... snack bar as they say .Pizza was very good , salads were fair sized and the cold beer!!Itâs a lil touristy but the food is good!! And the service was fast !!

THE GARDENER is a fusion between garden, park, hotel, bar and terrace. A constant sharing of sensations and emotions between spaces, a yin and yang of unique experiences and moments.
So, where to start! Jess and I have spent the last two weeks here on Sao Miguel celebrating our honeymoon! We have been staying at the Terra Nostra hotel, home of the Gardener bar. It has been our favoured haunt in the evenings and a great place for light lunch or a late breakfast during the day. Over the last two weeks Jess and I have tried most of their menu and can honestly say there have been NO bad choices! The staff are possibly the most friendly bar staff we've ever met, always up for a chat and very knowledgable! I must admit the silver service style treatment took me some time to get used to...but after talking about the importance of tourism to the island I have softened to the idea of being waited on. As an Englishman it has been very different to the norm....everything is order at the bar back home!On the island as a whole, we cannot recommend the Azores enough. From our first night listening to crickets as we drove to the hotel to hiking the craters of a volcano and kayaking the lakes within...we have so many memories from these two short weeks! We dont know when it will be, but we have already begun planning for our return as there is so much we haven't seen...and we know the Terra Nostra hotel and their Gardener Bar will be central to our return!Lewis and JessHappy HoneymoonersN.B. the photos include views from elsewhere on the island.

The FIRST and BEST IRISH PUB in the Azores.. Real DRAFT Guinness .. Quaint pub with fresh, home cooked food at the most reasonable prices...Seaside rustic decor .. KITCHEN OPEN TILL MIDNIGHT.
My wife and I were finishing up our day and couldn't resist a stop into this very well apportioned Irish Pub, especially one located in this little outcropping. The gentleman who owns the bar (unfortunately I forgot his name) is very nice and welcoming. The Guinness is fresh and tastes like that of Ireland. Though he offered some wonderful meal choices we were moving on so only had the beer. Will make an excursion back for a meal next time.

O Forno... situado no pulmão dos Açores
This small restaurant is in the heart of Nordeste, near the church. There is ample parking nearby. The staff is friendly. The prices are right, inexpensive. We dined on the patio. Their house wine proved to be very good, local. We had chicken, cod, rice, corn, French fries and salad. Cappuccino was good quality and came with a heaping mountain of whipped cream. Our friends had a cake for dessert and praised the taste and texture. The food is simple here but I would highly recommend this place as a great option for decent inexpensive dining.
