Haus der biere is a very nice pub, located in the center of Mödling, next to the church. We went there for lunch on Sunday and we were very happy to find it open ( from 11 a.m. on). As the weather was not good, we sat inside, but the pub offers also tables for outdoor sitting (must be really nice). Just have in mind that it a smoking place and in both rooms smoking is allowed. We ordered the Mexican ribs (also there is a promo - if you order ribs before 19:00, the price is 11,5â¬). There are a few types of ribs, but these were the only chilly ones. The portion is enough for two people and it is really delicious. For two portions of runs, 5 schpritzer and a beer we paid 36 â¬. I can recommend this place.

Went for dinner with another couple and 2 kids. Lovely evening so sat out in garden, part of which can be covered in case it rains. Had some nibbles to start with which were good except that the garlic bread was odd - brown slices with garlic butter. Goulash, chicken and schnitzels were washed down with good local beers (adults!) With good portions and matching prices we were very happy with the service. Walking distance from home - hurrah!
Where to eat Deli food in Gumpoldskirchen: The Best Restaurants and Bars
We have eaten here a couple of years ago and the food was average. This time was very disappointing. We went up to the cashier to order. With my limited German, I had to translate the menu for my adult children. They were not familiar with the food nor did they speak the language. We were the only ones in line and I had some questions. The young blonde cashier was clearly irritated it was taking what she obviously felt was too long. She made some snide comment to the older waitress behind her and rolled her eyes. Three of us ordered the gulasch soup among other items. Only one soup was available and they said the others would be out shortly. The one that came out was OK, nothing great. The other two that came out did not look nor taste the same. They were greasy on top and the meat was small, chewy, tough pieces full of fat--not the large tender chunks normally found in that type of soup. The schnitzel entree was very dry and tasteless. The salads were average. No one finished their meal. The wine and beer were the best part. Whoever owns or runs this place needs to taste the food. I will say the server for our table was very nice--the cashier needs to take a lesson from her.
