Charming and romantic "pati" but it ended there . Rude, cold and brusque owner behaved unacceptably. I ordered the roast chicken salad with fried mushroom, honey and rosemary . Instead what I got was salad from a packet with cold canned mushroom and cold pre cooked processed ( minced) sandwich chicken on top ? No hint of honey nor rosemary . I kindly asked to change it for another salad . The owner said I would have to pay for it . After arguing the merits she grabbed the dish and didn't offer me anything else to eat so I had to sit and watch my family eat . I offered to pay . She got very angry and defensive arguing that all their salads are cold and prepared to order . When I asked why is the fried mushroom cold if prepared to order she offered to microwave the tinned "fried" mushrooms . Surreal experience. It's a shame such a beautiful location is wasted on someone with no respect for culinary etiquette.Estimado cliente,Usted nos pidió una ensalada de pollo asado con salteado de champiñones y en ningún momento preguntó si esta se servÃa caliente que es la queja usted que nos hizo en un primer momento, después de probarla, es decir después de tocar la ensalada. Todas nuestras ensaladas se sirven frÃas y en ningún lugar de la carta indica lo contrario.No tenemos incoveniente en traer otro plato a nuestros clientes, incluso cambiarlo sin coste alguno si estos no han probado el plato (que no fué su caso).La ensalada lleva pollo asado que cocinamos nosotros mismos asà como los champiñones que no son congelados sinó frescos y pasados por la sarten. Todos estos ingredientes se sirven frÃos porqué nuestras ensaladas son frÃas; le vuelvo a indicar que en la carta no pone lo contrario. Si usted querÃa una ensalada caliente, antes de pedirla tenÃa que preguntar cómo se servÃa y nosotros, como en otras ocasiones que nuestros clientes tienen dudas, le hubiésemos explicado amablemente como se presentaba. Si, finalmente usted no quisó cenar, fué porqué no accedió a elegir otro plato y esperó a que su famÃlia terminara de comer.Lamentamos que la ensalada no fuera de su gusto porqué precisamente, esta es la que más eligen nuestros clientes habituales.Saludos,

We stopped here by chance and were very impressed with the quality of the tapas (and some unusual choices - avocado) and the excellent, friendly service. Beautiful spot on the edge of the Placa Major.

Enjoyed a lovely meal here in early autumn so Besalu was quiet but very nice. We sat on the terrace out the back overlooking the river and old bridge. Great service, food and wine, this restaurant is kinda of tucked away and doesn't look much from the outside but we were glad we found it.

This is a really nice, small Tapas Bar which opens only in the evening - it has got a small menu and we liked it a lot.In addition, the charme of the street we were sitting in is remarkable (but Besalu IS very nice, especially in the evening)The salad with goats cheese and honey(?) was wonderful, the croquettes just fine and the pa amb tomaquet (bread with tomato, typical catalonian) and cheese platter were great too. We choose it for two people and nearly could not manage all of it.Drinks were included, thus (with 11 EUR per person) quite fair
