This was the only store on the main street that was opened on Sunday. The restaurant sold hot and cold drinks and snacks. There were several locals sitting on the waterfront with beverages from the restaurant. There was a line waiting for service with passengers from the cruise ship that was anchored off shore. The restaurant is located about three blocks from the Tender Berth at Engineers Wharf.

Lunch ok for a pub meal, it took a while for our meals to arrive and taste was a little bland but as I said he ok meal.I wouldn't go out of my way to go to this place for a bite to eat other places on island better, but you can have a beer with your lunch at the Federal Hotel that's always a bonus.
We visited a couple of times. For a quiet beer during the day and on a Friday night which was pumping due to the meat raffle, money jackpot and karaoke. Cold beer, clean and just what we expected of a local pub. The locals were friendly , service good and we enjoyed our night.
This restaurant is situated in the Grand Hotel on Thursday Island. The hotel also offers a pub type meal but the restaurant is in another class. I have had two dinners there, both excellent. On the first occasion, I had a Barramundi dish that was perfectly cooked followed by a nice creme brulee. On the second I had a painted crayfish risotto that was brilliant, as were the pained crayfish pasta dishes of my companions. The amount of crayfish was generous and very tender and tasty, as was the creamy sauce, served with it. Service and wines were good. Finally, the ambience was great in that we were sitting on the deck outside overlooking the harbour
Sasan means "island style" in the traditional languages of the Torres Strait. Our style reflects the vibrant, colourful and spectacular lifestyle of Torres Strait. We serve contemporary Australian cuisine infused with flavours native to our islands.
This is a training restaurant for the local kids training in hospitality. A local took us for breakfast and it was busy for a good reason. Very reasonably priced and delicious food. We had the big breakfast and a breakfast burrito and unfortunately the pancakes were already sold out but they looked really yummy. Good coffee and good service. You can visit the gallery gift store when you finish.
