The city was incorporated in 1844 and is home to Naval Air Station Whiting Field. The population was 7,045 at the 2000 census. In 2004, the population recorded by the U.S. Census Bureau was 8,044. The population estimate for 2013 was 9,323. It is the county seat of Santa Rosa County. Milton was known by various names during its development. Most notable were "Hell-Town" (muggy, inhospitable land covered with briars, mosquitoes, thorns, snakes) "Jernigan's Landing", "Scratch Ankle" (due to the briars that grew along the riverbank), "Hard Scrabble", and later Milton (possibly Homage to the Epic Poem novelist John Milton) and/or because of the local lumber mill industry or Mill Town, which was shortened to Milton.

We have ordered carry out from Chopstick several times and found their food to be average to poor in quality. Egg rolls are bland with minimal filling. Shrimp toasts either under or over cooked. Entrees have been disappointing with over cooked, stringy meat. We now travel to Pensacola for tastier options.

We went for lunch the lighting was to bright, the server was great however the lunch special was quite confusing. We had only wanted sushi snack but two for $15.00 was so tempting for two entries and one sushi roll. Our misunderstanding cost us $40.00 for lunch with only one sushi roll included. Listen carefully this could happen to you. The special is two hibachi entries, ore one hibachi entrée with one sushi roll. The tempera was overly done. The hibachi tasted vegetables were burned and the chicken was dry. The sushi was very good however the best part of our meal was our server. She was very attentive and courteous. A great asset to Nikko's.

More than one soup. More than one offering of fish, pork, chicken, beef, and vegetable mix. Hibachi bar. Sushi. Fruit choices of canned and fresh cut. Usually at least one cheese cake among the desserts. Tables, booths, chairs and floor are kept clean. In a strip mall with large parking lot. Spicy foods are not overdone.

Was told about Main Moon by a few people.and decided to try it. I went to my old standby, sesame chicken, and I was pleased with what I received. Lots of chicken and some great fried rice was delivered. The sauce was not too sour or sweet. The price was good when compared with other places. The service was ok but the chicken was worth it.
