Sunny Cancun has much more to offer than its party-town reputation might suggest. Plenty of gorgeous, drama-free family resorts cater to folks who want to experience the tropical Yucatan climate. There are significant Mayan ruins here, such as El Rey and the Yamil Lu’um, a crumbling tower of pale gray stone. Learn more about this ancient civilization at the Museo Maya de Cancun. For a literal taste of Mexico, take a tour of the Museo Sensorial del Tequila.

The past meets the present in this ancient Mayan structure located right in the middle of Cancun's Hotel Zone.
We stayed at the Crown Paradise hotel and walked across the street to this place. We took a lot of kids to get away from the pools for awhile. The adults and 16 year old cost 55 pesos each. The kids were free. They loved it as much as I and especially spotting iguanas! I hope this society has more visitors so they can afford story signs. I found myself wanting more information!

A nicely preserved site located in the heart of modern-day beach resorts. It's surreal to walk this tiny ruin and wonder about the people that built and utilized this beautiful site.

We saw this while walking down the beach and just walked right up, I don’t think we were supposed to as we had to duck under a rope to get to it. Scorpion’s temple is small but is an excellent photo opportunity, if you are staying close by it is definitely worth seeing! It’s awesome how this is right in the heart of the hotel zone!
