I agree with the one other terrible review-I wonder if the positive reviews were of the same place. The tip off should have been only 6 other people between 6 and 8:45 pm on a Friday evening! The appetizers were below average. But the paella valenciana was horrible. Even the rice was poor. It had mainly large chunks of chicken. I found them inedible. Were they spoiled? Dessert was a very small piece of cheese cake. Fine, if good-but below average. Even the sangria was below average. Service was ok with only only two other tables most of the time

owner is obnoxious, arrogant, not nice. its obvious he is content with his following, his cash menu and doesn't care about new costumers or the patron's experience. he's rolling in dough, food reviews - so who cares.we walked in, (awful smelling) minimal greeting, no menu explanation. sangria is $34 a bottle, no one glass, one beer, and dishes while they looked great -- unless you are a regular, ready to spend a wad of cash- don't think they will take you through the menu or invite you to dine. Your just a sale. And there goal is to feed you and move the table.also you are sitting on top of others - and we had loud bunch of yentas - literally men and women so loud and boisterous - we walked out. didn't even sip water. I lost my appetite.

Located in the village of Piermont NY only one mile from the Bergen County NJ border, BASQUE TAPAS BAR offers a variety of Spanish Tapas, Paella, Sangria and specialties from Northern Spain.
We dined here on a Friday night. They don't take reservations for 4, but we had no trouble being seated. We were told that the next time we return they will take our reservation. The restaurant is small and the noise level for a Friday night was tolerable. Usually when there's a bar close by the noise level is unpleasant, but this was not. Later, a group with one very shrill voice was seated by us and that changed the noise level considerably. The service was fine and the food was delicious. We ordered drinks, which oddly arrived one at a time. No trays? Then the waiter brought us 4 slices of good bread with olive oil. Water was not offered unless we asked for it. We had the octopus, the scallop tapas and the special seafood paella. The paella was delicious--the seafood was plentiful, fresh and tender. The rice was correctly cooked. We 4 ordered the paella for 4 and ate it down to the last grain of rice. We shared the flan, which was excellent. There is valet parking, which is helpful in Piermont. We all agreed that we will be returning.

The staff were great! The restaurant even has an outdoor space with a beautiful view of the town. I would recommend the burritos lunch special and tres leches cake. The burriots are extremely cheesey, the way I love my burritos!
