Congri, a taste of Cuba in the Northwest suburbs, is a family owned restaurant that offers a wide variety of traditional dishes. It offers homemade dishes in a family oriented environment.
Excellent price value. I stuck to the waiter's favorite Ropa Vieja and enjoyed my meal. My companion went with the weekend-only Cod stew and found it to be overly salty. Wait staff was helpful and pleasant. I really root for these small Mom & Pop establishments, but it's clear this one could use help with interior design. The table type and layout don't lend for an efficient or flexible space. And some of the upscale finishes are hidden behind cheap clutter.

We stopped in and discovered wonderful, homemade Mexican food. It is not fancy, but clean and the food is fresh with homemade quality ingredients. Our dishes arrived promptly with generous portions. We took enough food home for another meal each. They provide traditional chips and salsa, along with a cup of homemade soup that was a nice touch and made you feel welcome and valued. The food had amazing flavor and the salsa appeared homemade and had a nice amount of heat. This was a great visit for a taste of authentic Mexican food. We will definitely be back.

Small, family-owned and a very good choice for lunch. Empanadas were delicious. Some meals come with pickled cabbage-n-jalapeno salad - different and delectable. A couple of horchata drinks are available.
