Modeled after Las Vegas' Oyster Bar, entrees are prepared in Steam Kettles at the counter in front of you. Sauces are made from scratch so that spices can be tailored to your specific liking. High-pressured steam is pushed through pipes to the steam kettl
Wouldn't expect to find Louisiana style steam kettle cooking in a Chino Hills mall, so The Boiler was a pleasant surprise. The restaurant interior is fairly austere, but don't let that dissuade you from dining here --- the food is definitely worth it.The entrees are served in large porcelain bowls, and we opted for the shrimp scampi and the jambalaya. Both were delicious. A really nice feature was being able to order on a scale from 0 - 10. We stayed in the 2-3 range, which gave the flavors a nice piquancy without overwhelming them with heat. But if you want to go that direction, it's good to have the choice. We both went with the amber microbrew ---- good accompaniment. If you're still a hungry young'n, you may want to throw in a starter or salad to round out the meal, but for us older folks, just the entrée was more than enough. We paid $18 - $19 for our entrees and $7.75 for the beers, not cheap, but reasonable for the quality. Service was friendly and attentive. We appreciate you sharing your positive experience with everyone, and I hope to see you again in the near future.

Weâve eaten here a few times over the years, and one thing stays consistent: this is a place that welcomes their patrons like family: A place that serves great food, but more importantly, makes one feel like they were invited over for supper. My brother, me, and a friend of ours, all while traveling from out of town, decided on Centro Basco for our one big dinner out. And we made the right choice. There was a large party going on in the dining room, so we chose to sit at the bar in the front. Another wise choice, as we fell right into the amazing hospitality of the front end bar staff. The menu here is huge; and the amount of food brought out is even larger. Ordered ribeye steaks, and a rack of lamb: All served with split pea soup, vinaigrette salad, Au gratin potatoes, and green beans. Of course, bread n butter too. All was excellent. The lamb was probably the best of the meats, but all were tasty. So considering the portions, and the quality, the food gets a 5 for sure. This was our first time sitting at the bar while dining here, and we werenât sure what to expect as far as service goes. But this turned out to be the best part of our visit. Our serverâs name was either Stephanie or Michelle, or Mishka or âEmma Stone, or even Mila Kunasâ Lol... Well, she may have had up to 9 names, as everyone called to her by a different one, but she was hands down the funnest waitress/bartender we could remember having. She had a genuine personality, and knew the menu well. She was prompt and attentive from start to finish, keeping glasses full, and more food coming. But best of all, she knew how to go back n forth with the patrons at the bar.; with just enough attitude to make our evening perfect with laughter. Yea, we liked her from the start. And then thereâs the regulars at the bar area, that add to the ambiance as well. Many of them are true Basque descendants; and had some cool stories to share, as we all mingled together. And then thereâs Carol, an older âyoungâ lady, that added yet another wise and seasoned local to the mix. She was delightful with her years of knowledge, tough exterior, and stern inner principles; as she refused to let anyone buy her a drink. Wait, does this sound like Iâm describing âRickâsâ, from the movie Casablanca? Well, to be honest, It did sort of feel like the kind of place that everyone goes. All n all, this place is a perfect spot for a gathering of friends or family, whether for dinner or drinks. The combination of great food and excellent service, in a welcoming venue, makes for a perfect night. One can tell the ownership extends their genuine friendship throughout their associates; making everyone seem as if theyâre all family: and thatâs a rare thing these days. If youâre thinking about trying Centro Basco, donât hesitate: just reservate!.... Bon appetite
