My husband and I were tired from a long drive and at the "grumpy stage" when we arrived in Oxford on a Football Friday night. We had no dinner reservations, but my husband had eaten at the Snackbar on another business trip and had been pleased. We drove north of town a bit to a strip shopping center. When I saw the location I was doubtful we would be seated. There were folks sitting at outdoor tables in the Mississippi heat, but everyone was smiling. I saw oysters on the halfshell being consumed and lovely plated entrees. Miraculously, the hostess found a tiny 2-top for us inside. It was PACKED. But walking into the place was like walking into one of my favorite New Orleans restaurants. Dark woods and soft ambiance. The French Sav Blanc was nice and reasonably priced. There are regular entrees and "small plates" to choose from. My husband had the french onion soup, and theRoyal Red macaroni and cheese offering. Our wonderful server recommended the Rabbit at my request. It was tender and dark and delicious. We enjoyed a fabulous meal and made some new Missisippi friends at the next table. We will definitely be back to the Snackbar! Kudos to this place for making our night...

Serving up southern kitchen favorites to our family and friends, Soul Fish Café has become a tradition for the best fried catfish and fresh vegetables.
Seafood places, per se, don't seem to make it in Oxford for long, but this new one south of town might have the right mix of chic and shabby to make the cut. There's a wide selection of fish and seafood to choose from an, yes, there's catfish cooked multiple ways (including an interesting salad/dip appetizer) from Mississippi ponds. Medium-range pricing, and they're still learning their way around, but two trips in a week produced an improved experience overall the second time around.Sorry for the delayed response, but thank you for the great review! Hope to see y'all back in really soon!

We like to try local places when traveling. This website looked enticing.....until we walked in the door. First, the place is remote and difficult to find. Secondly, the lot was empty on a Tuesday at 6:30....omen. Thirdly, they still had a temporary sign after 1 1/2 years in that location. Next, a sign on the door read:âPlease be gentle with our fragile doorâ or something like that. What a lovely greeting. We were greeted and seated immediately...maybe four other diners. The decor is something out of the 80âs, with chairs stacked in nooks and crannies, including my dining view. The website touted âtaco Tuesdayâ, which was laughable. My dinner appeared to be a leftover kid-sized meal of something. On the positive side, our server was friendly and prompt. When our bill arrived, I was stunned. We have traveled to all 50 states and several foreign countries. I could not believe the charge for a cocktail...highway robbery. Did I mention the restroom had no hot water for hand washing? Disgusting...
We were on a tight schedule and stopped here. The food was fresh and hot, and delicious. Its the best captain D's i've had in a long time. Everything was crisp, not greasy and the staff was accommodating.
