The location is good, the service attentive and the wine selection original, but the food terrible. The highlight was the amuse bouche, after that it went from disappointment from disappointment. In particular, the main dish. Nothing was right. The fishes a la plancha seemed to have been boiled by a British housewife missing Plymouth. No taste. The ratatouille was equally tasteless and the sauces did not help. I do not like to write bad reviews but I seldomly fail to find a good place to eat and I thought Ile d'Yeu would offer nice choices. I guess it was a bad day for the Chef, who seem to be much better than what we got today.

All four of us really enjoyed our dishes. All the fish was very fresh tasting. We had hake and sardines, though it was felt that the sardines and chips would have been enhanced with the addition of a salad. We would recommend the Tiramisu for dessert.

We visited with friends on a perfect June Monday, but didn't have a reservation. We were lucky because it was already quite full but we were fairly early having taken the 0930 ferry from St Gilles, checked into our hotel and rented an electric car. The following day we cycled here but were not so lucky. They don't seem to serve drinks if you don't eat. I had Patogos (large clams served rather like mussels) with frites. They were delicious washed down with half a litre of Pression. The Bar is situated on one of the prettiest harbours on the island. No ferries, only fishing, diving and pleasure boats. It is about half way along the south westerly coast of the island, and must experience some severe winter storms facing to its nearest landfall in the Caribbean. We were lucky with the weather as there had been light northerly winds for a few weeks. There is no pollution on this rocky coast so the blue ocean water was as clear as the Caribbean. Wet suited free divers complete with spear guns often operate here. Obviously you can eat inside in bad weather. We will bring our snorkelling gear in September when the water should be a few degrees warmer than its current 13 degrees, air temperature was 26 degrees. Service was good and cheerful. On the right day this is a wonderful place, and probably on other days too. The Bar is situated about half an hours walk from the Medieval Vieux Chateau, a must see on the island.

Bar restaurant à côté du port, quelques plats bien cuisinés comme des accras ou un fish and chips et des yaourts maison.
