We were staying at a hotel nearby and wrongly assumed that Ichi-san was empty when we walked by -- definitely not the case. They have a dining room upstairs, and a terrace/balcony outdoors. The crowd was lively, and our dinners were very good--mixed sushi plus miso soup and vegetable tempura that were delicious. Service was very good and our waitress very friendly. Definitely to be recommended.

We often eat at Francesco's when we visit Bamberg. I do not review it after each visit, but our visit yesterday was even more memorable than usual. We ate with friends who also love to eat there. We each chose from the daily specials, knowing that it is always fresh and exceptionally well prepared. Often, we let Francesco choose a compatible wine from his extensive, ever-changing selection. We did so this time too. His choice was a wine that we had tasted and bought just hours before at a local wine handler. As always, the food and wine were excellent. My Seafood Lula, a medley of five entrees, was the best meal I have ever had in this always outstanding restaurant. Everyone else at the table was well pleased. The excellence of my meal alone merited an update review.I was astonished to see that this restaurant had 4 terrible reviews since my last. Curiosity led me to read them. Astonishingly, all 4 reviews were either by Bamberg reviewers, or from reviewers with only that single review. My first TripAdvisor review was of a terrible hotel, but I continued to write reviews. My ratings run the gamut from good to bad. I am suspicious of locals who find one of their city's restaurants so terrible. I also question the standards of reviewers who love or hate everything. I cannot conceive how this restaurant could have merited such terrible reviews. It just does not correspond to any experience I have seen in over 20 visits.

The service at this resteraunt was extremely rude! I didn't even get a chance to make a reservation because on the phone I was scolded for calling when I did and told to call back another time. I can understand when things are busy I've worked in service myself, but how I was spoken to made me never want to call again.
