Friends who live in France quite locally recommended we find this restaurant while we were at the market. Not a massive frontage & run by a lovely husband & wife couple. She cooks, he is front of house & waits on. We booked a table as the restaurant is not very big, there is seating upstairs as well so don't be put off when looking through the door. We were greeted & our table was upstairs as offered when we booked & by the window. We had the set menu of 2 courses (starter/main, although you can have main/dessert for the same price) about 17 euros a head. All freshly cooked with fresh vegetables!!! Starter was duck terrine for Daryl & tartine of ricotta cheese with Serrano ham for me, followed by the pock in mustard sauce for Daryl & I had a brochette of beef. absolutely gorgeous. The wine was also lovely. Total bill for 2 courses, 3 glasses of wine & 2 espressos, less than 50 euros & we were to full to even try the lovely looking puddings. Mr was congenial & quick to point out it was just him & his wife, & that everything was fresh. Music in the background was English & eclectic, but enjoyable nonthe less. Mrs was happy to join in the conversation whilst in her compact & bijou kitchen. Such lovely people & a divine lunch. What a delight it was to welcome you!! Thanks to your friends for the recommendation and to you for stopping by. We are very happy that you were pleased with your meal and enjoyed the ambience of our small Bistrot. Thank you for sharing your appreciation with other travellers. It was wonderful to have you and we hope you will be able to be back one day. Anne and Franck.

We stopped off here on the way back from Quiberon. It was raining really hard and so our planned walk around Auray was cancelled! This place had the advantage that we could park right outside and, anyway, none of us wanted chain restaurant food. So, we took a chance - and we were glad we did.The waitress greeted us with a huge smile and showed us to our table. The plat du jour was cuisse de canard confit which is one of my favourites - so that was an easy choice! My wife had the same and my son had the children's menu which included a main course, dessert and drink. He had tagliatelle bolognaise. From memory, the plat was 8â¬50 and the children's menu 6â¬50. The formule entree/plat or plat/dessert is 11â¬90.After we had ordered, a table near us had had pizza and it looked lovely - so we were worried about our choice! The duck was amazingly good and was served with fantastic sautée potatoes and green beans. The portion was generous and the flavours great. The tagliatelle could have fed a very hungry adult - it was huge - and it tasted really good too.In my mind, a brasserie attached to a supermarket should serve decent food at a reasonable price. This place felt almost too good! The food tastes really good, it is cheap for what it is and the staff are friendly and attentive. We were really lucky it was raining and, if we were in the area again, we'd probably have a walk in town but then come out here to eat!

Outside appearance and location give little clue to the gastronomic pleasures within !Seriously good food served with friendly attention by the charming host & his lady wife.Only open Wed & Thurs lunchtime, and Fri,Sat,Sun lunch & evening : best to phone to be sure. Menu at around Euros 17 for 3 courses.I had mussels with a light chorizo sauce, to kill for. The leftover juice would be good enough as a slightly spicy soup just on its own. The Duchesse had a verrine of avocado, crevettes, and orange on a salad base, which she said was delicious. My main course was an excellent filet mignon de porc in a pepper sauce. Top notch.Warm tarte aux pommes as dessert. Lovely. The Duchesse had a brochette de gigot d'agneau, delightful. The wine list is compact but well chosen & reasonably priced. So if you are travelling south on the D768 from Pluvigner towards Auray, Corn Er Hoet is not much more than a crossroads with a couple of shops but well worth looking out for. This place is easily one of the very best in the region.
