Tlacotalpan is a town in Tlacotalpan Municipality in the Mexican state of Veracruz, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1998 primarily for its architecture and colonial-era layout. The town was established in 1550 on what was originally an island in the Papaloapan River. From the colonial era to the 20th century, it was an important port, one of few interior river ports in Latin America. However, with the construction of the railroad, Tlacotalpan’s importance faded. Starting in the latter 20th century, efforts to conserve the town’s Spanish/Caribbean architecture and layout began, culminating in World Heritage status. Today, its main economic support is fishing and tourism, especially to the annual feast in honor of Our Lady of Candlemas.

we had the fixed price meal. wonderful cream of veggie soup, lots of fresh bread, garlic fish filet with salad, rice, fried plantains. dessert. everything was fresh, the service was great. went again for breakfast. also excellent, but i warn you, split the order! they give you way way too much. again, all delicious

Great service and delicious food at reasonable prices with a wonderful river view. Deservedly popular with the locals. I had the shrimp cocktail and the crab tostadas and both were delicious. They have an English menu if needed.

Visited this restaurant for dinner after a very long and tiring 36 hours trans-atlantic travel.Staff were friendly and attentive, and the food was very tasty. Good portions and all steaming hot when served, which considering we were a group of 30, was very well done.Lovely location in the 'square' - would definitely re-visit.
