Most Mexican restaurants in the US outside the southwest are pretty drab. The food at Amayaâs was fresh, delicious, and spiced to order. I had chicken tacos and my husband had enchiladas. I had mild salsa and he had spicy salsa. Everything was fresh and delicious. No canned beans or salsa from a jar. It was a real joy to find good food in a lovely (not corny) setting.Hey Patricia, Thank you for the great compliment!! Also glad you enjoyed the fact that we donât believe our place needs to look like a peacock threw up inside. Having lived on the border of Mexico and traveled through out the country, we truly attempted to bring our familyâs recipes along with some great classics that we sampled in other parts of the country. This place serves some great Mexican food, cooked fresh, and served up hot and spicy at cheap prices. Can't go wrong here if you love Mexican food. The menu has everything you would expect to see, with lots of options. The tacos and tostadas are great! The cook makes everything on the grill right behind the counter. There is limited parking, but the restaurant is packed inside. Service is still fast and friendly, even with the crowd. A sign inside says that they are moving to a new location, so that may help with the parking. So glad to find this place on the way to River Raisin National Park.

MANY things wrong tonight - womenâs restroom STILL STINKS; there is NO excuse for not hiring a company to fix the issue (then maintaining it so this doesnât happen again!)- dining room was very cold; asked twice to have temperature adjusted but it didnât improve - I requested my alacarte items be served on 1 plate but they came on separate plates- 1 of my 2 items was wrong! I ordered a cheese and onion enchilada and received a chicken enchilada. I would have had it remade but the waiter never checked on us, so I just had it removed from the bill - wanted more salsa but after someone else delivered our food, we never saw our waiter until everyone was done eating

We walked out of the restaurant with errors in our order and didn't realize it until we were already back at our hotel. Fortunately we were close by, so we went back. They quickly and happily corrected our order, and threw in some free cinnamon twists for our trouble.
