Situé à Cucq, à seulement quelques kilomètres du Touquet, la Relève est la nouvelle adresse pour déguster une cuisine de la mer dans un décor méditerranéen
What a transformation from dull peasant Chez Claudine to a smart modern bistro. Interesting format with fresh fish much to the fore and a choice of 8 tapas to share - ever reducing in price according to how many you order. Good value and very attentive staff

A warm welcome from the Italian Maitre D but not from French staff.Antipasto generous and tasty. Main courses a let down. Terrible fish dish, overcooked , tasteless (monkfish?) with an appalling carbonara. Pizza ok( with a bloody egg cracked on it. Have a word France)Wine decent. Relatively inexpensive for Le Touquet which has some dreadful places. It fills up quickly but they turn tables so if you went later you would get a table.

The first night we tried to eat here it was absolutely heaving and we had no reservation so reserved for later in the week. The lady who works front of house is superb - very friendly and accommodating. The man who works there, possibly the owner, is too busy showing off to the customers (a different silly hat every time he comes out to the restaurant, putting on loud music, slapping his regulars on the back) to be particularly effective. The starters were not good - the calamari was cooked from frozen and the garlic bread was just a burnt baguette smothered in raw minced garlic. The mains and desserts on the other hand were really rather good. The pizzas were delicious - there was an extensive pizza menu with tomato, white and pesto bases. The merguez pizza was exceptionally good. The carbonara was good too although it was served with a raw egg in the middle. Yes I know carbonara sauce contains egg, I've just never seen it plopped in the middle of the pasta like on steak tartare. And not ideal for the five year old who was eating it either. We shared a delicious desert with speculoos, whipped cream and crushed biscuits. The bill came to just over â¬100, about average for Le Touquet. The restaurant was busy when we were there and lots of locals came in for take aways (or possibly to be entertained by the owner) but it was a bank holiday weekend so I am not sure how popular it is out of season. I would recommend the food but getting it to take away. And forget the starters. I certainly will do both next time.
