Really enjoyed my dinner here. The food is absolutely delicious, portions are huge so come hungry!!! We were a party of 6 and everyone ordered something different. Each dish was superb, very aromatic, fresh ingredients, and so damn good we had a very hard time trying to decide who had the best meal - still debating this issue... definitely recommend this place.

Italy-based pizzeria chain serving brick-oven pies, pasta & cocktails in hip, informal surroundings.
When Piola first opened, the food and service was fantastic. The staff was warm, welcoming, and enthusiastic about providing great service. We visited often as the food was fresh in flavor and preparation. Overtime, things got a little stale. The service began to suffer and then the food lost it's edge. So, after having a few meh experiences, we backed off and stopped dining here. Last night, Piola's was one of the few restaurants open late on a Saturday so we thought we would give them another shot. The service was a little better than recently but then again, I think we were the only ones in the restaurant. We were promptly greeted, offered a choice of inside or out, an offered beverages and menus. Similarly, food was served quickly but that is where the attentiveness ended. While I recognize that the servers were cleaning up the restaurant as it was the end of the night, it would have bene nice to be able to get my water refilled. Food was freshly prepared. The Gnocchi Pompei was probably the best dish of the three we ordered. Piola is known for their Gnocchi and these did not disappoint. I believe that they make them in house which explains why they are the softest, most delicate Gnocchi I have ever had. The sauce is a fersh tomato, very light and summery - like it was cooked in the garden with plenty of fresh basil and the right amount of garlic. I can eat this sauce by itself! The Italia pizza was almost as good. Again, freshness is the key here. A crispy, thin crust topped with ricotta cheese, tomato sauce, mozzarella, and arugula with just a hint of the smokiness form the oven.Lastly, the Penne Civadale was the least of the three dishes. While the pasta was a nice al dente, the sauce was a bit thick and overpowering. The ham? that I somehow thought was going to be chicken (perhaps I ordered incorrectly) was thinly sliced and a bit tough - hard to spear with my fork and tough to chew. It also could have benefited form a dusting of some fresh parm but none had been offered. (This would have been a nice touch for the Gnocchi too). Again, it was late and close to closing so perhaps they were a little more focused on cleaning up and going home but...the last guest should get the same service and attention as the first. I fear that although the food seems to have come back to par, the service still needs improvement.

The server was friendly and helpful. She described all of the drink options available and answered questions about the menu. I ordred a dish with cheese added. They forgot to add it, she caught it and sent a smallbowl of cheese with the entree. She made sure I was not charged for the cheese. The food was fresh and flavorful. The baklava was a good dessert choice.

My family and I had a very enjoyable lunch here this afternoon. Our server, Ellie, was very friendly, welcoming, and made us feel comfortable. The Milano pizza, the Mozart salad, the portobello burger and the feta sandwich are all excellent choices. We would come here again.
