We are a family run Italian restaurant in the heart of abergavenny thats cooking food inspired by Southern Italian flavours.
Having been reluctant to visit again after a couple of mediocre visits when this place first opened we decided to give it another go. What I was most impressed about was how much this restaurant cares about getting it right and they urged us to give them another chance following my last trip adviser review. All our friends had been really impressed so thought it might just be down to the fact that our first few visits were when the restaurant had just opened. This visit was much improved. The food was tasty and portions if anything too big (but who is going to complain about that??). The fish sharing platter to start with was amazing and my only regret was not choosing the duck for main course which was stunning. The veal was good but the Duck was something else! Staff as always were friendly and efficient and we look forward to going back! Thank you Andreas and team!

Firstly the restaurant looked more like a cafe. Some Spanish / Italian decoration would brighten the place up a bit. Staff were lovely- very hospitable. Service though was poor - we ordered drinks with bread and olive oil as an aperitif. But they arrived at the same time as three of the four tapas we ordered. We often have tapas and realise that different tapas take different times to cook, but you still expect to get your drinks before the food. Then on to the food firstly the olive oil was not a good quality virgin olive oil. It tasted like a cheap olive oil that you might cook with. Two of our tapas were good ie the lamb meatballs and the Spanish pork loin which was a âspecialâ on the day. The other two were not to our taste the prawns were small and cooked with chilli which wasnât to our taste and secondly the calamari wasnât at all crispy as we expected. Desserts were good. Would we return - yes possibly but weâd not have the bread and oil and ask to have our drinks before the food comes.

Visited last night, 10th Sept, for the 3rd time. This has now become a must visit whenever we visit our home town on increasingly rare visits to Abergavenny. Excellent prices and the service provided by Clare & Beck was friendly, efficient and professional, what more could diners want?My wife had the lamb chops, scrummy, and I loved my lamb kebab, the rice salad accompaniment is a real winner.Just one word of caution for the owners, this was out 3rd visit in a year and the 3rd time we were greeted by new staff. Over time, this is bound to weaken the service offering, Clare & Beck were easily the best yet, do yourself and customers a favour and do all you can to keep them!See you next trip, Mezze Me.
Cafe in the heart of Abergavenny serving freshly made meals, sandwiches, cakes and snacks, as well as high quality teas and coffees.
We stopped by for a coffee and were impressed by the friendliness and the efficiency of the two girls at the counter. A nice interior laid out for lunch and an interesting tapas/meze menu with a Turkish theme. Well worth a visit!
