Yesterday I had a delicious meal at this restaurant. Their 8oz ribeye (carne aside) dish was very good. I asked them to bring rice instead of tortillas and they were happy to accommodate my request with no extra charge. The people are very friendly and the atmosphere is family friendly. I recommend and will come back for more.

I have been here many times. Only once did I have an above average experience... ALL THE REST HAVE BEEN EXCELLENT!!!! Last night was the best ever,First of all, the young lady who served us was the owner's daughter. What a lovely young woman! She was so polite, and was an excellent server. She checked on us as needed but was not "in the way". On a scale of 1-10 I give her a 10.I have certain favorites at Cafe Habana City. The Cuban sandwich is always excellent, MY personal favorite is the Papas Rellenas which I had with a double side of Yucca Fritas. As always they were excellent. I am a freak about hot food. These arrived at our table at the perfect temperature! My wife had the Pollo A La Barbacoa. I stole a little piece off her plate at which time I realized I had ordered the wrong thing. I have never had the Pollo A La Barbacoa and I will go back this week just to eat an entire portion. It was amazing!!! I prefer white chicken normally, but this was the most flavorful chicken I have ever tasted! It was a nice visit. My wife had not been feeling well so we ended up cutting the evening very short. With all the great places to eat in Lafayette I had kind of forgotten just how great Cafe Habana City is. We will return soon!

It was cold outside and I was in the mood for soup, so I tried the Chicken Tortilla Soup. It was delicious with a rich broth and large chunks of vegetables. Because it only comes in one medium sized bowl, I ordered the beef tongue taco on the side. It was suggested to me by friends and proved to be as tender and tasty as they claimed.

Patacon makes amazing patacons. My family particularly likes the pork patacon the most, but the highlight of the dish is the green sauce. Ask for the bottle, and they'll let you add more. Really, really good. We've been wanting to try their other offering, but every time we go in we can't help but to get the patacon again. It's just so good. We did get the cheese wrapped in dough and fried thing a couple of times (sorry I can't remember the name off the top of my head) and those are also very good.
