Our group of 5, of whom 2 eat here frequently, enjoyed dinner. We ordered two servings of trout, plus chicken enchiladas, scallops, and a classic chicken dish. Itâs nice to join friends at a restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere and a wide variety of delicious, attractive dishes.

Chef Paco is great and really makes this place a destination. His moles are amazing. Tried the enchiladas with 6 different mole sauces. Spectacular. Be prepared to be charmed into dessert or other items. The entire staff is just great and so is the food.

Based on the food and the reasonable prices, I would have probably given this five stars with pleasure. But the noise level was a serious negative for our experience. The low, flat, hard-surfaced ceiling, and hard-surfaced walls parallel to each other make for noises bouncing around the room with nothing to soften them. There were only two other families in the restaurant when we were there, but it sounded like a ball game, and my wife and I found it hard to talk. This is a shame because in this area, near Oak Park and River Forest, there is room for a good quality and reasonably priced Mexican restaurant, and this could be it. They offer a range of choices in hotness of sauces; I had the spiciest - the habanera sauce - and it was fierce, but still did not overwhelm the other flavors. The beef was well prepared, as was the chicken. And the chicken soup that I had was quite extraordinary, filled with chicken and a rich broth, and vegetables and even slices of apple! A very good experience that could be much better if they can find a way to dampen the noise level.

So we visited with a total of 8 people. They immediately took out 18% tip. Bad sign because they feel they can give whatever service they want. I had their sandwich sampler. Not good. Potbellies offers better a tasting sandwich. Their pork was very dry. Their ham and cheese was also very dry. Their steak sandwich was horrible. Full of fat and felt like rubber. 2 of our friends ordered the same and they mixed their sandwiches up. They each had 2 of the same. When asked the server said âjust switch themâ. My wife had ropa vieja (means old clothes). Her favorite Cuban dish. This did taste and the texture felt like old clothes. $2.75 for a can of pop???? Unreal. In total. We paid for 3 dishes and 4 pops. $74. Ridiculous. I normally donât mind the price If the food is worth it. My advice....... pass this up. Potbelly has a better Cuban sandwich and half the price. Horrible horrible place.
