The choice of different Japanese inspired dishes is impressive. The Sushi was very nicely prepared and the fish of good quality and fresh. Also, they have some unique appetizers. Service was very friendly. Even though the place was full to capacity it was not overly loud. No need to scream at each other at the table. Something which is desirable but not evident with todays closly packed eateries with poor sound damping insulation. Will definitely go back there.

The food here is off the charts. Amazing combinations, unique, yet familiar flavors to explore and a very knowledgeable staff. We've now been numerous times and love to go back for standby favorites that are always on the menu (chicken karaage, trout noodle dish) and to try whatever amazing creations have been added since our last visit.

Sashimi is decidedly my go-to preference when in the mood for Japanese cuisine⦠and for me Matsu Sushi has consistently provided very good to excellent experiences. Most recently I dropped in for a late lunch / early dinner and ordered the Sashimi Deluxe entree which comes with a choice of salad or miso soup. I opted for the salad but all too often in Japanese restaurants these salads come drenched with too much dressing so I made a point of requesting minimal dressing. The response was a pleasant surprise; he brought the salad without any dressing plus a small bowl of dressing on the side so that I could personally add how much I wanted. Much appreciated. The sashimi entree was, as usual, excellent⦠an assortment of five different fish, including salmon and two different tuna choices⦠four large slices each, very fresh⦠and excellent presentation.I took my time, eating leisurely to truly enjoy my meal and my cup of hot green tea was refilled at least three times without having to ask. Decor is spacious, high-ceilinged, modern American style, with two very large maneki neko (âlucky catsâ) providing the only overtly Japanese ornamentation. Full liquor license.Bottom line⦠for sashimi lovers Matsu Sushi consistently provides a very good experience⦠food, service, ambiance.

I am hesitant to add to the great reviews only because this popular little place has become too popular!! It is our absolute favorite sushi restaurant--none of the others in town even come close--not even Sakura (YUCK!) or places like Pink Sumo or Matsu. The sushi is extremely fresh, creative and beautifully presented. I have a personal favorite roll that they have since taken off the menu but they make it for me anyway--ask for it--it's the Alaskan King Crab Roll ($13) and it has salmon, crab and mango--amazing. Their Sex In The City Roll and Rainbow rolls are also family favorites. We also love their hot dishes like their chicken Teriyaki and noodle dishes, and their shumai and rock shrimp apps are the best.
