Having been to Japan and eating on the local economy there, I honestly believe this to be the only Japanese restaurant in the area to serve real Japanese food like I had there. The place used to be an old diner back in the 60's and the decor has not changed much but the FOOD is what you go there for and the FOOD IS GREAT! When I go with my wife we normally get the Nagame Combination Platter For Two, but if I go by myself I will go for many different things, my favorite being the Katsu Don. I eat here fairly frequently.

On the way home from Palmdale, we decided to Celebrate our 14th anniversary with some Japanese food. She ordered the chicken tepanyaki and fried beef plates, and I ordered the garlic onion seafood plate, but first a dragon roll. Big. Great craftmanship. We were almost full before we were finished with the soup. Best miso in a long time They don't scrimp on solids. The green salad was crispy and delish, then we tried to chow down on the main courses. Everything was mouthwatering, and full of flavor, and prompt as heck. We told them of our anniversary, and the waitperson took our pictures and gave us little ice cream balls that were the final gilding of an already delicious lily. We will make ourselves more of a regular couple here, I promise.

Went here after Antiquing in Merced. Was a cold day and wanted some comfort food and drink. Had warm Saki and combo tempura along with shrimp chow mein. All good and hot with waiter keeping good time with checking on us. Overall, a nice place to have lunch.

We had another great dinner at the teppanyaki table along with the entertainment. We had spicy chicken and shrimp, steak, and surf and turf. The fried rice and vegetables were also excellent...we like the fried rice done spicy. The story of Pocket 8âs is amazing.
