We havenât visited Iâll Postino for a few years and weâre pleasantly surprised by excellent service and even better Pizzas than before and the hugest and the most innovative selection weâve ever encountered. Weâll be back soon for one of their Sundays with live music.

Italian family style pizzeria and restaurant Situated on an old Natal red brick farm, in Balgowan Midlands
We enjoyed a family lunch here while on holiday from the U.K. The food was delicious &well presented, accompanied by an excellent choice of wines. The staff were attentive &helpful. We loved the warm ambience & never for one minute felt we were being rushedout, which made a nice change! Our best wishes go to the management & staff. We will be back next year!
This is the latest venture at the Piggly Wiggly complex in the Natal Midlands. Situated in the vineyards, adjacent to the famous Piggly Wiggly, they have built a beautiful red brick building which houses Menu Restaurant and Highgate Wine Tasting and Winer
We decided to visit Menu for a birthday dinner while in Howick. It was a little tricky to find the restaurant but we managed with some help from security guards. The restaurant looks lovey (and definitely do visit the bathrooms; one which looks like an original old lift).Service was welcoming and friendly. However, for a restaurant going for fine dining there is a way to go (like donât clear plates until everybody has finished). We were disappointed with the cellar (think small room with a bit of wine in it). We didnât fancy a whole bottle but only one red and one white is offered by the glass. Remarkably itâs not even one of the wines made on the estate (!!).Our food was average at best.Skinny lamb chops tasted fine but were too thin with lots of bits of bones.Pork belly was supposed to be Spanish saffron but tasted like liquorice. The crackling promised was missing entirely. Beef short rib with coleslaw was unpleasant - nothing Asian about the coleslaw and the expected light coleslaw to compliment the short rib didnât happen, particularly in that the ribs were on top of coleslaw and then covered in sauce. Coleslaw and sauce donât go! Bizarrely the dish still had vegetables on the side (no, no, no!). All three plates had carrots that were sandy (literally!) so we sent them back. By now youâll gather we werenât too happy... we decided to share the mixed berry dessert. Well... weird pannacotta (no cereal taste!) for sure. The dehydrated strawberries were missing and well, it was pretty much a flop. And sound d so good. If you might expect that anything was comped or throw in to brighten up our overall experience youâll be disappointed. Not often, after all over 1000 reviews that I give a 2 rating.Sorry, epic fail. Get sorted; though donât expect to see us back again.

If you are tired of the standard stop-overs with franchised restaurants, the Windmill Country Stop close to Howick on the N3 will be a great alternative. It has been around for a many years but has has grown into a major facility which are well oraganised to cater for even then the busiest periods of holiday traffic.Although there is a service station were you can fill up, the focus seems to me more on providing a pleasant stop-over with great facilities (clean rest-rooms) and a fantastic variety of well prepared food. Anything from great home-made pies, gourmet burgers, wood fired pizza, Indian cuisine and many more options. Add great coffee, some health options and a well stocked Farm Stall, there is something for everyone. At one stage their mission was to provide the cleanest restrooms in the country and it seems to remain the case. There is also lots of space for kids to stretch their legs and a well equipped playground. If you have ever stopped over there, chances are that you will return. If you never have been before, it will certainly be worth a try.The Windmill is well marked and easy to find. There is ample parking and easy access to the amenities. Look out for the signs after passing through the Mooi RiverToll Plaza on the way to Durban.
